It has been a while since I've tried my hand at a serious physics puzzle app, so it was great to get my hands on Rock Pocket's latest release, The Package. Your objective is to ensure that a single box makes its way to a small platform on each level, but the added challenge of dealing with interference from mechanisms in the level and attempting to collect all the bonuses makes this a treat to enjoy.
Each level can be explored by dragging your finger around the screen, while pinching also allows you to zoom in and out for easier placement of your available widgets. There are no bonuses or penalties for using all the available widgets such as wind turbines, conveyor belts and ramps, so it's worth experimenting with them all for the best effect. Several items can be modified after placing them in the world and items such as boxing gloves and ramps are also directly subjected to the world's physics.
Sadly the game does require a 3GS or iPod Touch (3rd gen) to run, but in compensation for this the graphics are top notch, with detailed texturing and lighting effects adding flair to the levels. There are 20 levels in total to complete and each one can be replayed to grab more bonuses to increase your total score.
More unlockable features other than new levels would provide more of an incentive to players to replay The Package, but the variety in puzzles as you progress is neat and clever level designs make it hard to 'cheese' a successful run. A neat addition for physic puzzle fans.
