Air hockey, mini-golf, snooker: These are games for the common man. A true gentleman requires something more discerning for his sophisticated palette. That is where Gentlemen...Ricochet! comes in. Not only does it allow you to mingle with the upper crust in the town of Smallbridge, but also acquire a handsome sum of tokens, and even a monocle if you're lucky.
The gameplay of Gentlemen... Ricochet! is simple. You must flick your token to the end zone, using objects in the environment to redirect your token's trajectory. To activate the end zone, you have to collect at least one star along the way. As with a game of golf, you'll want to get to your goal in the fewest possible flicks and come in under-par to to be considered truly gentlemanly. To help you control and reposition your token, you can halt your its journey mid-fling by tapping on magnetised plates.
Completing many of the stages are is a simple case of of lining up your shot to rebound off an angled beam of wood, and send your token scudding into the end zone. To do this successfully you'll need to select the perfect angle and just the right amount of power.
Unfortunately, the right angle is not always easy to come by. Repeating your best shots when replaying stages for extra stars can be difficult, and you might occasionally find yourself yearning for a dotted guide line.
In addition to the game's smart repacking of a classic concept, Gentleman...Ricochet! is elevated by its loungeroom soundtrack and upper class airs. Even during its most frustrating stages, a lot of the pressure is alleviated by the relaxing music and daft characters. The collectable counters give you a reason to push forward, too, if only to for the chance to flick a beady eyeball around the screen.
If you're in the mood for a more silly but sophisticated physics puzzler, we suggest you pour some brandy, pull on your smoking jacket, and engage in round or two of Gentlemen... Ricochet!
