You may already have heard but 2014's Facebook MMORPG sensation, League of Angels, has been given the sequel treatment on mobile by GTArcade.
Don't worry, nothing drastic has changed and you'll still be collecting Angels and Heroes, leveling, training, and customising them, and sending them out into battle against the forces of evil.
Or against players, if that's where your interests lie, as all of the PvE and PvP modes have made the leap onto the mobile version as well.
League of Angels - Fire Raiders did have a pretty extensive visual redesign though, and we talked to David Johansson, Creative Director at GTArcade about the team's inspiration, approach, and favourite characters in the mobile sequel.
What inspired the art design for League of Angels - Fire Raiders?
The base inspiration was the original League of Angels browser game, but we quickly realized that this art style was not quite as suitable for mobile games.
We experimented with finding ways to preserve the feel of the League of Angels world and characters while making everything look more fun and appealing to mobile players of all ages.
Did you experiment with any different approaches to the art before you settled on this one?
We tried lots of different concepts in the beginning until we found our groove and settled on the current visual style of the game.
Once we saw the final designs of our key angels and heroes, we knew for sure we had made the right choice.
Which is your favourite character design?
My favorite looking heroes are Earthshaker and Berserker Claw - they look cute and tough at the same time.
The coolest Angel in my opinion is Athena, as she looks very wise, powerful and serene. Mikaela is also a personal favorite with her fiery look.
Do you have plans to experiment with a 3D version of League of Angels in the future?
Yes, absolutely! We will be releasing a 3D version of League of Angels towards the end of the year.
We are also publishing a mobile 3D MMORPG in a couple of months but this one will not be part of the League of Angels series.
Spirit Guardian, as this new game is called, will soon be officially announced. Stay tuned for more info about our upcoming games. There’s a lot happening this year!
League of Angels - Fire Raiders is out right now in the App Store [download] and Google Play [download].
