UPDATE: A recent update has added more courses and achievements, but more importantly players can now duke it out in a 2-4 player multiplayer mode on local or online networks (matchmaking performed through Game Center). What was already an amazingly addictive title has squeezed out a little extra fun and is worth grabbing more than ever before.
First there was Stick Golf and the verdict was good. Now, there's Super Stick Golf and Noodlecake Games don't just deserve a hearty golf-clap, they get a full round of applause for going the extra distance on this sequel to a solid golf/puzzle title.
Super Stick Golf takes the basic concept of teeing off for a round of Golf and pairs it with tonnes of whacky environments, complicated terrain and a handful of super-powered golf balls to challenge players to stay under par. Aiming and firing is as simple as selecting a direction and tapping the 'Go' button to select an appropriate power level, however things get really crazy once you start to use the unlockable power-ups to completely change how the game is played. Your stick-golfer will appear next to the ball once it has settled for a short length of time, however the use of power-ups like 'Sticky-ball' mean that he can be positioned on the roof or the side of a chasm for some truly ludicrous shots. 'Freeze-ball' can also turn a water hazard in to an acceptable landing point to continue your play.
This results in some absolutely fantastic matches where players can utilize shortcuts designed in to many of the game's currently available levels. While many of the 200+ levels are remakes of the original game's levels, they've all been updated to the slick visual design of Super Stick Golf that looks smooth and crisp on Retina displays.
Super Stick Golf is a class act, turning what was already a fun and clever challenge in to something that becomes dangerously addictive once you start attempting to unlock the additional content. Definitely a must grab title for fans of the original and those after a fun, challenging puzzle game to add to their collection.
