There she blows! Assassin's Creed Pirates gets whale hunting in latest update
Being a pirate ain't all sword fighting and rum, you know. Sometimes you have to get down to the messy stuff – whale hunting, that were the real money is. Luckily, Ubisoft has just released an update to Assassin's Creed Pirates which adds whale hunting to the navel warfare gameplay. As well as letting you harpoon the gentle giants of the deep, the update also brings a handful of other new features. Those of a zoologically persuasion will be able to collect 50 species of Caribbean fish. If this isn't your cup of grog, however, there are also two new ships and six additional boss fights to unlock. A survival mode wraps up the list of updates, challenging you to live though a wave…
Shellrazer gets new island and oodles of enemies in Bugzkrieg update
It easy to see why Shellrazer has been blowing up all over the App Store. After all, a side-scrolling shooter in which you mount a giant customisable War Turtle is a premise which is tricky to ignore. However, the turtle-powered blaster has just become even bigger thanks to the game's newest update, which adds a brand new island - and a ton of new enemies - to the game. The new island of Bugzkrieg is set to further expand this cartoony side scroller. The additional land mass takes the total number of islands up to three. and brings with it a host of new challenges. Introducing more than 50 new enemy units, Shellrazer now offers over a hundred types of advisories to shoot, snipe, a…
Grab your gun and shoot your way through waves of menacing baddies in action-packed endless runner Blaze&Graze [Sponsored]
Back in September 2013, developer Wyse Games released an action-packed endless-running title called Blaze&Graze. Blaze&Graze is a game all about retribution. Nefarious baddies have carried off your wooly relatives, you see, and it's your job to send them packing using the destructive powers you’ve obtained from the Great Sheeplord. Unlike in a lot of endless-running titles, you're not encouraged in Blaze&Graze to slide or jump in order to avoid the many enemies that you encounter as you play. In fact, you’re encouraged to fill any obstacles that are unfortunate enough to cross your path full of hot lead. Blaze&Graze was inspired by classic NES shoot-'em-ups and…
Sponsored Feature: Visit a sprawling fantasy world in Digital Cloud Dragon Bane Elite
Dragons aren't exactly new concepts in gaming. In both Skyrim and DragonVale, for example, these powerful and mysterious fabled creatures are part of the reason for the games' successes. Dragon Bane Elite represents an attempt on the part of its developer to illustrate the true might of the dragons in a portable game. Oh, and to reproduce the sprawling scale and depth of a desktop MMORPG on your iPhone. I spoke to Jianbo Tang from Digital Cloud, the creators of Dragon Bane Elite, to find out why this particular fantasy world is worth exploring... "Dragon Bane Elite is an MMORPG game with an epic history. The game is set in a fantasy past over 10,000 years ago. Players build their…
Sponsored Feature - Cohort Games on Cirkits: Toy Robot Racing
Robots are, arguably, the best toys. A good chunky robo-figurine just can't be beaten. Only, perhaps, by cars. They look cool, can do jumps, and loop the loops. And stuff. Cars are pretty great. Well, if you asked Darran Thomas, CEO of Cohort Games, to pick a winner between robots and cars, he'd probably say both are best. And that’s not cheating. Why? Well, because as the creative director of Cirkits: Toy Robot Racing, he has overseen an almighty mash-up of the two. Darran calls it a "Combat Racer". “If I have to put a label on it, I see it as a fusion between a racing gaming and a free runner. But it draws in influences from lots of genres. At first glance, it can look like…
Update (ver. 1.2.2): Rōnin Review
[Version 1.2.2 Update: Since we last reviewed Ronin, the game has had some major changes made to its outer shell, focusing its efforts on the high-scoring aspect, while providing enough base motivation through upgrades and basic missions to keep casual audiences entertained (at least much longer than before). Other nifty updates include an alternative control scheme (you can now tap to attack, with swiping for 'evasions' only), new hazards to add to the fighting mechanic's novelty, and…
