Color Zen Review
Sometimes it's amazing how far you can push a premise. Take Color Zen, for example. You are presented with a series of coloured shapes. By moving shapes of the same colour together, you can dye the background the same hue,. This also eliminates the shapes from the field of play. The goal is to eventually reach the colour on the edges of the stage, leaving nothing but a single shade. A simple premise. Some would say, “too simple”, but through some very competent design, flui…
Watch The Video ReviewDeus Ex: The Fall E3 Trailer
The announcement of this iOS exclusive sequel to the hit game Deus Ex: Human Revolution was of course shown in more detail at E3 this week. We would like to share the trailer with you all. It looks to have many of the same systems in place that its predecessor contained. As it is a touch screen game, the big question is of course how does it control? We should find out soon as it's slated for release over the next couple of months.…
Bloodmasque - Square Enix meets Infinity Blade
Really the title of this article is all you need to know before watching the E3 trailer for this Square Enix iOS exclusive. There's also the ability to take your own picture and create a character with your face (and enlist the aid of your friends). The game looks quite gorgeous, and it will be interesting to see where the Infinity Blade gameplay is taken in this new interpretation. The game is due out sometime in the next couple of months.…
Trials Frontier
The Trials series has never made its way to iOS, but through games like Bike Baron and Joe Danger, we have been able to experience the physics based motorbike racing that Trials HD and Trials Evolution have made famous. While Redlynx's trailer at E3 reveals a new next-gen Trials game, the second half of the trailer is dedicated to a mobile offering titled Trials Frontier. Have a watch of the trailer! The two games are supposedly linked in terms of unlocking content, but it's great to finally see Trials on iOS. Steady yourselves though. It looks like the game won't be out till next year. We'll keep you posted.…
Moebius Trailer
Jane Jensen, the creator of the Gabriel Knight trilogy and Gray Matter has been working on a new adventure game with her studio Pinkerton Road. The game was funded on Kickstarter, it is called Moebius, and a trailer has been released. Here it is! The game looks a little rough around the edges, but an element of intrigue is there. Jensen's strength has always been story and character, and no doubt this new tale will live up to her reputation. No word on a relase date as of yet, but a playable demo for the PC version should be out at the end of the month. The game is also coming to the iPad (hence why we're covering it).[Moebius website]…
Bridgy Jones™ Review
The following is a public service announcement: Those with no grasp of physics or basic engineering (like Dave who, wrote this review) will probably not get the most out of a game like Bridgy Jones. Of course, this isn't to say that it's not a good game. It just that here, as with other construction-based physics games like World of Goo, your enjoyment hinges on how effective you are at throwing up load-bearing scaffolds. In this case, you're throwing up improvised structures to get y…
Watch The Video ReviewScurvy Scallywags Review
Ron Gilbert really likes pirates. I mean you would probably expect something of the sort from the man who created the Monkey Island series, but after games like Deathspank and The Cave, it's interesting to see him return to the subject - and in a match-3 game, no less. This puzzler tells the story of a buckaneer who has set off on a grand adventure not on the high seas, but on the stage. That's right: this tale of pirates, swashbuckling, treasure, and sea shanties is for the amusement…
Watch The Video ReviewiOS 7 unveiled
It's a busy week. Not only is E3 on, where gamers get to see the future of the industry (especially this year as we're on the cusp of the new console generation), but the WWDC is on as well. And, at Apple' keynote speech, iOS 7 was unveiled. Now, we usually don't cover Apple news here because we're all about the games, but a new design for both the way the iPhone and iPad functions (as well as the App Store) is worth our attention. Below is the unveiling video. If you want to skip the marketing talk and just find out about the new features, the real info starts about four minutes in. Personally, I don't see the new iOS changing the way I use my device for good or ill, but time will tell o…
Chronoblade Announcement Trailer
Watching the trailer for this upcoming game, thoughts of an action RPG meeting a side scrolling beat em up come to mind. At least part of this thought process is justified seeing that one of the creators of Chronoblade is Stieg Hedlund, one of the main designers behind Diablo II. He has teamed up with Dave Jones, one of the creators behind the original Grand Theft Auto, and Tony Harman, former president of Realtime Worlds. What they've come up with looks like a lot of fun. See for yourselves. This free to play release is about to go into beta, so we should have a release date sooner than later. We will let you know.…

Our review of Combo Crew can be found here.…
The Sequel to Bucketz
Bucketz Ride releases this Thursday. The original Bucketz was a balancing game with the main draw of featuring animated characters with distinct personalities having humourous conversations. What can we expect from the sequel? Well bigger and better is usually the mantra in these cases. Take a look for yourself. If you were a fan of the original, you'll most likely be on board for this. If you missed out, have a look at our review.…
Man of Steel Trailer
It's blockbuster season in the US. Every summer the film industry unleashes its ultimate popcorn movies, and of course that means videogame tie-ins - especially when it comes to superhero movies. Man of Steel has a trailer now, and it looks like the majority of this game will be spent pummeling badguys as Superman. Seeing Superman's dubious videogame history, we here at AppSpy are skeptical, but we hope for the best. Have a watch. The game is released on June 14th.…
Skiing Fred Review
If one were to categorise videogame characters based on luck, Dedalord games' Fred would certainly be among those at the extreme bad end of the spectrum. Having survived videogames based on falling while avoiding hazardous ways to die, and running while avoiding hazardous ways to die, we now have Skiing Fred, who must ski down a mountain, while avoiding hazardous ways to die. This is another endless runner that's graduated from the Temple Run school of gameplay. You tilt the iPhone or…
Watch The Video ReviewSyberia out on iOS
Thanks to Microids and Big Fish Interactive, the PC adventure classic Syberia is out on iOS... kind of. Syberia Part 1 is released for free. The game is split into three parts, and each adventure can be unlocked through in-app purchase. The Syberia series is well regarded in adventure circles for its beauty, and intriguing narrative. Even in such a form, the game is easy to recommend for adventure fans. Have a look at the original PC trailer for an example of the weird and wonderful world the game presents for the player. [App Store Link]…
ExZeus 2 Review
If there's one thing you can't deny about ExZeus 2, it's the game's ambition. It sets out to create an action-packed mech shooting and fighting extravaganza by regularly switching-up its gameplay. One moment you're flying around the city blasting aircraft like a stage of Space Harrier, the next you're getting down and dirty at ground level in a 3D shoot-and-brawl section. You'll even find yourself in charge of a motorcycle attempting to avoid obstacles and take out enemies with your le…
