Final Fantasy VI Symphonic Poem is 20 minutes of orchestral awesome
"The music of Nobuo Uematsu remains as powerful and as moving today as it did when we first heard it 20 years ago" - that's what producer Thomas Böcker said of the Final Fantasy composer's oeuvre, and I think you'd be hard pushed to disagree. So you should definitely spend part of today watching the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra cracking through 20 minutes of Final Fantasy VI's score, as part of its anniversary celebrations. To do so, all you need to do is click this link right here, and you'll be transported to the RSPO's official website. Have patience though: the video's worth watching, but the site itself is antiquated, taking approximately 1 billion years to load anythin…

I was off for this episode of our Let's Play / Tutorial / Faffing About series focused on Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS. I feel like I missed out. Stupid birthdays. Surviving in Minecraft: Pocket Edition, Episode 7 - Rearing Sheep
The plan for this episode of our Let's Play of Minecraft: Pocket Edition was to keep digging and digging and digging into the ground until I found something amazing... or in the very least a different type of building material to the ones I've already found. That didn't quite go to plan, but I did make a very deep, very long hole in the ground, with some very nice stairs leading all the way down. On top of that I decided to see what else I could create with the materials I'd already gathered. I make all sorts of awesome tools in this episode, and also a complete failure of a sheep pen. Also: hot duck action. Missed out on previous episodes? Catch up via our Playlist on YouTube.…
Genre Busters: top 5 best Radiangames games
As we discussed on the stream, both James and I are big fans of the Radiangames catalogue. Intense arcade-oriented blasters and puzzlers are the order of the day, usually with a liberal helping of vivid neon and huge explosions. We decided to take a long look at the oeuvre, and bring you our five favourites. If you haven't got an hour to watch the stream replay, never fear: you can jump to the games instantly via the links below... 1. Inferno 22. Crush!3. JoyJoy4. Super Crossfighter5. Fluid SE…
PBR: Raging Bulls is the official bull riding game of the Professional Bull Riders organization, out soon on your iOS device
TIL: that there's an organization that presides over bull riding, and it's called PBR, and it has an arcade-oriented game coming out on iOS in which you ride a variety of absurd types of bull. It's called PBR: Raging Bulls, and the trailer shows off some of its different bull types, including robot bulls that teleport, dragon bulls that fly through the air, British pilot bulls with handsome moustaches, and so on. Here's the trailer, it looks ace.…
WinterForts: Exiled Kingdom is out now on Android and iOS, brings a new twist on strategy management
It seems like every week we see a new game like Clash of Clans come along, and while WinterForts: Exiled Kingdom may use that formula as its base, it's also a little bit different, a little bit special. The main change, and it's an important one, is that there's more strategy to defence construction, with the option to setup your fortress in such a way that forces enemies down routes that will likely spell their demise. [App Store link][Google Play link]…

The launch trailer for Skater sees Andrew Reynolds talk you through an infamous Hollywood skate spot
Skater is Frosch Media's play for the title of "best simulation skateboarding game", and though we haven't played it enough yet to confirm if that's the case, it's certainly super authentic: the game replicates real world skate parks and spots - such as the Carlsbad Gap and Woodward Plaza - and features big name skate brands too. The launch trailer is equally in tune with skating culture, with pro skater Andrew Reynolds explaining the history of the 12 and 16 step at Hollywood High, a spot featured in Skater. Skater is out now on iPhone and iPod Touch, it'll cost you $4.99 / £2.99. [App Store link]…
I want you to look at how beautifully elegant Find the Line is
That gentle piano soundtrack. The easy going control scheme. Those simple but striking visuals. Seriously, Find the Line looks elegant as all heck. The game's out this week on the App Store, and I for one can't wait to see more of it.…
Hands-on with Mirrored, the entirely creepy first person adventure
Mirrored is a cross between The Room, Myst, and an episode of The X-Files. It's got all those typical adventure game elements you'd expect from a game like Myst, the intrigue and “escape the room” feel of The Room, plus the ominous atmosphere of the adventures of Mulder and Scully. But Mirrored is more than the sum of its parts, as I show you in this quick look at a very early build of the game.…
Hands-on with ORBB, the peaceful planetary puzzler
You might notice a slightly different tone to my voice in this hands. It's mostly due to me feeling extremely serene, and wonderfully calm, even if I wasn't doing brilliantly at the game in front of me. That's because that game is ORBB, a title designed to be super super super chill. Here's how I got on...…
Hands-on with Pumped BMX 2, the intense BMX simulation game with bold cartoon visuals
At first blush it's easy to assume that Yeah Us!'s latest is going to be an auto-runner, or an arcade-centric action game. It's bright and chunky and very colourful indeed. But after a few minutes with it you quickly realise that Pumped BMX 2 is about as hardcore as it gets for extreme sports games on mobile. As you'll see in the hands-on video, I've become a big fan of Pumped BMX 2 in the small amount of time I've had with it, but I'm still nowhere close to mastering its deep trick system, and fiendishly tough courses.…
