App Wrap Up (Week Ending 15th February, 2013)

Hey hey readers and welcome to another installment of the App Wrap Up! Let's end this week in gaming by looking at some games that might have fallen under the radar. Based on their trailers, I think they may have something interesting to offer, so I present them to you along with links to the App Store in case anyone wants to make a purchase. Without futher ado, let us begin.   Tic Stac Toe (Accomplice Productions, LLC) Yes game wise, this is a low fidelity Connect 4, but it's the different sized grids combined with the varied backgrounds that could make this take on a simple game a little more complex and enjoyable.[App Store Link]   Bipolar (Mike Colussi) Draw a si…

App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 11th February, 2013)

Hey hey readers! It's time for yet another edition of your favourite regular feature on the site, the App Wrap Up! As always we're going to take a look at some trailers of released games that may have fallen under the radar. These games were chosen as while they may not have wide spread appeal, there is something about them that looks interesting. Let's get started!   Food Run HD (Pixels on Toast) I dunno, there's just something about not only leading a parade of running food items through a level that amuses me, but the levels themselves look well designed with a nice sense of flow. Might be worth checking out for platformer fans.[App Store Link]   Diibs Odyssey (Boxed Pig)…

App Wrap Up (Week Ending 1st February, 2013)

Hey hey loyal readers! It's been a while since our last App Wrap Up (well a couple weeks). Appspy has been a little quieter than usual, what with the Australia day long weekend followed by cyclonic weather that severely hampered local internet. Driving through a flooded road was also a frightening and completely stupid experience that I engaged in during this madness. Well, with all that behind us, let's have a look at some interesting game trailers and see if there's anything that might cause you to take the plunge and give one of these games a try.   Cowbell Hero (Digital Hero Games, LLC) This is mainly here for novelty factor. As a rhythm game it doesn't look like it offers much…

App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 7th Jan 2013)

Well aren't you lucky readers! Not only did you get to end last week with myself and the App Wrap Up, but you get to start this week exactly the same way! As always we are going to be looking at a collection of game trailers that look like they have something interesting to offer, and I will make brief comments on them, and then link to the App Store in case you wish to purchase them for yourself (and if you do, be sure to tell us what you think of the game in the comments). Without further ado, let's get started!   Pixel Defenders Puzzle (Social Titans) You know how Puzzle Quest took Bejeweled, added some RPG mechanics and made a really engaging game? Well it looks…

App Wrap Up (Week Ending, 4th January 2013)

Look at this, the first App Wrap Up of 2013! *sniff* I might get emotional. True story, I had one planned a couple days ago, but dealing with the new backend ate it... so I've let some time drift between and now I'm ready to have a look at some game trailers for ios games that might have fallen under the rader, and look like they might have something interesting to offer. Let's kick off the year right and begin!   Delta Looper (Ratjutsu LLP) Kind of like Tilt to Live with a trapping mechanic (although power-ups allow you to shoot as well). Looks like a solid engaging high score title with decent enough presentation. [App Store Link]   Daredevil Rider (Bravo Game St…

App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 19th December 2012)

Hey Hey dear readers! Well it's a Wednesday and most of you have probably noticed, we have a new site here at Appspy! It should make it a lot easier to comment, track apps, and most importantly, just look around the site. But we're not here to extoll the virtues of the new site, we're here to have a look at some app trailers, and maybe show you something interesting that you haven't seen before, or something that just might entertain you. Let's start things off!   Asva the Monkey (Osja Studio) While this trailer is annoying for not actually showing off how the game works (due to its love of quick edits), you can kind of see what's going on here. Looks like a puzzle tile game, where…

App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 12th December 2012)

Hey hey folks! Welcome to another installment of the App Wrap Up... this week! Isn't it crazy? Anyways, being an auspicious occasion, and by that i mean the date is 12/12/12, let's celebrate by looking at some games that look interesting based solely on their trailers. Here we go! Tribot (deVoid Games) An interesting take on the endless runner genre. The bot has three wheels, and while one of them can hit a hole in the road, any more will cause it to crash. The concept probably doesn't stretch very far, but a new approach is always welcome.[App Store Link] StarCaptain (Number TwentyFiveent Ertainment) As a captain, it's up to you to catch the stars (for posterity i'm assuming…

App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 10th December 2012)

Hey Hey readers, and welcome to another installment of the App Wrap Up! It's been a week or two since last we met, and I have another collection of interesting games that you may have missed that look decent based solely on their trailers. Let's get started! Linked Together (Idol Minds LLC) The expansion of the match-3 genre into giant linked chains for massive points is not a new concept, so what is it about this trailer that resonates? Is it the 'in your face' presentation, or is it the emphasis on multiplayer and a slew of intesting power ups? Whatever the reason, this does look like a lot of fun.[App Store Link] Jellboy (CORVUS GAMES) You've seen those youtube videos abou…

App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 26th November, 2011)

Hey hey folks. It's Monday and summer is really started to hit hard over here. How can I tell? The hayfever has begun! As i try to ignore my dripping nose and itchy eyes, here are some games from the App Store that may have fallen under the radar. Based on their trailers, we're gonna take a look at them, and if you like what you see, well you can always click the app store link and give the game a go! Let's begin. Real Boxing (Vivid Games S.A.) Maybe it's memories of Mike Tyson's Punch Out, but I have a soft spot for boxing games. Now this one looks fun enough, but in the end, that all comes down to the controls. If they're well executed, players will definitely be in a pugilist para…

App Wrap Up (Thursday Edition, 22nd November 2012)

Hey hey all. Seeing that it's Thanksgiving over in the US, the majority of the news surrounding this week has been Black Friday sales. Seeing as your site already has that handy section informing our viewers when games go on sale, we'll just have to give you another App Wrap Up to tide you over. As always, we'll be looking at some games that may have fallen under the radar, and will be making quick evaluations based on their trailers. Enjoy! Starbloom (Shadegrown Games) This is kind of reminiscent of Catch-22 in its presentation, only this game allows you to move off the beaten path, and as you play, more orbits are created. Looks relaxing and enjoyable.[App Store Link] Directional…

App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 21st November 2012)

Hey Hey readers. It's nice for another App Wrap Up! Exciting isn't it. As always we will be looking at some titles that may have passed under the radar, and will be showing you their trailers, and then making curt qualitative comments based on them. Oh happy days! Let's get started! Rhythmix (Krithee Sirisith) I don't know if calling this a high octane rhythm game does it justice. It looks nuts to tell the truth. Multiple tap and swipe gestures and if the trailer audio is an indication, a fast paced soundtrack. I think rhythm game fans should have a blast here.[App Store Link] Soccer Punk (AppCom Interactive GmbH) A fun little spin on the all too worn physics flinger formul…

App Wrap Up (Tuesday Edition, 6th November 2012)

Hey Hey Appspy readers! It's Dave here with another installment of the App Wrap Up! Tuesday the 6th is sure a big day. Oh yes there's that important election going on over in the United States of America (whereever that is), but over here in Australia, not only is it the Melborne cup horse race, but the lotto is up to one hundred million dollars tonight. Guess who didn't buy a ticket? This guy. As always we want to stress that we're just posting the trailers of games that look interesting that we don't have time to review, and all our impressions are based on these trailers. If you have played these games, or decide to based on what you see here, please let us know in the comments. Let's ge…

App Wrap Up (Thursday Edition, 1st November 2012)

Hey hey everyone. I don't know about you guys but as Summer is fast approaching here in Australia, the heat is getting pretty unbearable for me. Still, it doesn't stop me from giving you another edition of the column you all love so very very much, the App Wrap Up! As always, we're gonna look at some trailers of iPhone games that look potentially interesting, and then give some comments on them based on said trailers. If something looks good to you and you give it a go, all the better! Let's get started! Trauma Ted (Lonely Pin PocketGames) A simple little puzzle platformer about getting an injured cat to his pain medication. The levels are short and sweet, and it looks to involve so…

App Wrap Up (Tuesday Edition, 30th October 2012)

Hey hey everyone. I'll quell the rumours right now - this is not going to be a Halloween themed App Wrap Up. There really just werent that many Halloween themed games that look good enough to feature, and besides, there's a bit of a backlog when it comes to interesting titles for this column. As always, we're showing off the trailers of games that look like they might have something interesting to offer, and any analysis is based on said trailers. Ok, let's get started. Cpt. Backwater (Intermediaware) This is a puzzle game, the trailer makes that very clear. How it works though is a little harder to figure out. It looks like how have to slide objects into each other (possibly to mak…

App Wrap Up (Tuesday Edition, 23rd October 2012)

Hey hey everyone! It's a Tuesday, and while we don't normally have an App Wrap Up today, my list of interesting games to showcase is bursting at the seams, so let's get started! As always, our impressions and choices are based solely on the trailers. Got it? Good. Let's go! Spectrum Run (Tobias Hagemann) Kind of cut from the same cloth as last week's reviewed Polara, this is an endless runner based on changing to the appropriate colour to make it through the obstacles. It adds an extra level of reaction based thinking to deal with and due to this, could turn into a great challenge or horrendous frustration.[App Store Link] Fruit Rocks (Ad Maiora Studio) Watching the trailer…
