App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 15th October 2012)
Hey Hey everybody! It's a Monday, my belly is bursting of fullness after eating far too much chinese food, and it's time for another edition of the App Wrap Up! As always, we've got some games to look at that may or may not be interesting and worth your time and money based off of their trailers. What goodies do I have in store for you today? Let's find out! Uehara Adventure (UeharaLabo) There's something very intriguing about this game. Perhaps it's playing as a kanji character, perhaps it's it reminding me a little of Syoban Action, perhaps it's the play on mechanics in different stages. This looks like it could be enjoyable for platformer fans, but at a $4.49 price point, it's pr…
App Wrap Up (Week Ending 12th October 2012)
Hey hey folks! It's the end of the week, and even though it's been a little while, it's time for another installment of the App Wrap Up! As always we're gonna have a look at some games that may be interesting based on their trailers. Whether they're worth your time and money, well that's for you to decide! Now let's move onward! Royal Revolt (flaregames GmbH) We've seen the reverse Tower Defence game done before, but this has such a nice art style and what looks to be some interesting upgrades that i think fans of the genre should give it a look. It is a free app, so there could be limitations designed around in-app purchases. The question is whether they hinder enjoyment of the gam…
App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 1st October 2012)
The weekend is over. The month of September is over. It's time for another edition of the App Wrap Up! As always we're looking at some games that may have merit based on their trailers. If you have played these, or choose to play them based on what you see here, please let us know what you think in the comments! And now, the games... Aliens Incursion (Northmanni) Part Asteroids, part twin-stick shooter. Solid visuals, though not too sure about the controls from the look of things. Still, a rather solid looking game that looks to have fallen under the radar (and by that i mean we haven't covered it yet).[App Store Link] Pin Tiki Ball (Tore Hansen) Not the most riveting pibal…
App Wrap Up (Week Ending 21st September 2012)
Hey Hey everyone. It's the end of the week and i have another App Wrap Up for you. As always, here are some games that you might like to play based on their trailers. If you do purchase one and give it a try, why not tell us what your thoughts of it are in the comments? Well, let's get started! Blue Libra (Orator Games) A real time space strategy game. I wonder if it plays like Galcon, or if it's more about squads and strategic placement. Regardless, it looks like a fun romp for strategy fans.[App Store Link] iTapPirate ( Inter Illusion) Part of this looks like a first person action game, the other part is reminiscent of Lethal Enforcers. Oh, and it features pirates, so tha…
App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 17th September 2012)
It's another Monday and it's time for another App Wrap Up! The column that shows off some iPhone games that have possible potential based solely on their trailers. If anything looks good and you decide to give one of these games a try, please let us know what you think in the comments. And now, on with the show! Lookout - Blizzard (UNNYHOG Entertainment) Get the snowball to the exit, while dodging fire, rockets, and ultimately, explosions! Full of meaty sound effects, as long as the snowball is responsive enough for some death defying manouvers, this looks like a blast.[App Store Link] Tasty Fish (Dime Studios Pty. Ltd.) Hearing the title makes me think of that line from th…
App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 10th September 2012)
Hi-dee Ho Appspy readers! It's Monday and we've got another edition of the App Wrap Up ready for you! Yes we got some interesting submissions over the weekend, and combined with those that came in last week have some neat looking games to showcase. Remember though, these are just trailers, and our impressions (as well as yours) are only based on said trailers. If you have played any of these titles or decide to do so, please let us know what you think in the comments. Well i've just had my second coffee for the day, so let's get to it! Project: Mayhem (OneSmartBunny, LLC) Another tough as nails platformer, this one with very simple visuals. The level design looks great, but as with…
App Wrap Up (Thursday Edition, 6th September 2012)
It's that time again, time for your favourite column (don't deny it), the app wrap up! As always i have some titles to show you that look interesting and could be fun to play based on their trailers. If you try any of them, please let us know what you think in the comments. Without further ado, let's start this! Roll the Ball 3D (Prince Kumar) This reminds me a lot of Boost 3D, only here you have a large life bar, and are controlling a sphere. Over time you speed up, and it looks like the controls are pretty tight. Could be a fun endless roller.[App Store Link] Nuclien (Springloaded) Aside from having a highly amusing trailer, Nuclien looks to combine reaction based gaming…
App Wrap Up (Week Ending, 31st August 2012)
Howdy Ho Neighbourinos. It's the end of the week, the end of August, and time for another segment of the App Wrap Up! As always, the apps we feature here are here based on their trailers alone, as they look interesting enough to warrant potential further investigation. If you try anything out, be sure to tell us what you think in the comments. And now, on with the show! Rbots (a10.com) A disembodied robot head, magnets, and puzzle physics platforming. It touts single touch gameplay, but whether or not it's implemented well, well that remains to be seen.[App Store Link] Goal Defense (Dynamic Pixels) A sports themed tower defense title. As TD games go, it looks pretty standar…
App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 22nd August 2012)
How's it going Appspy readers? It's time for yet another App Wrap Up installment! As always we're gonna post and comment on some trailers of games that look interesting, but of course all we haven't tried them ourselves. That's for our readers to do if they see anything they like (and do please tell us about it in the comments). Let's start things off! Window Warrior (Gambit) Kind of like Fruit Ninja with planks of wood, and instead of slicing, boarding up windows. Ok, so it's not really like Fruit Ninja. Board the windows from encroaching monsters by hammering planks across them. There's even a nail shotgun![App Store Link] Missile Storm (Vjenceslav Nadinic) Yes it's…
App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 20th August 2012)
How are you all enjoying your Monday? Wow, what an unenthusiastic response. Well i don't really blame you, but perhaps having a look at some intertesting iPhone games might cheep you up a little. As always we're basing our impressions on the trailer only. We don't know if the game's hold up on their own, but if you decide to give one of these a try, please let us know what you think in the comments. All right, let's get to it! The Dizzy Dragon (Rebel Dwarf SA) Guide the dragon towards the sun, and avoid all the other obstacles. I guess dragons don't have the problem that Icarus had, huh? It looks like controlling the dragon might be a bit of a hassle, or at least that's where the ch…
App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 13 August 2012)
Well it's the start of the week and what we have for you is another edition of the App Wrap Up! As always we are evaluating these games based on their trailers, and they have been featured here because something about them looks interesting. If you've played any of these titles, please let everyone know your thoughts down in the comments. Let's do this! Gas Tycoon 3 (LEMICO Soft) A Pipe Dreams style of game with a level editor and easy access share system. It looks like that game has a little bit of style to boot. For those not yet tired of this genre since its resergence on mobile devices, this could be a good pick just based on the breadth of content.[App Store Link] iSpherical -…
App Wrap Up (Week Ending, August 10th 2012)
It's the end of the week and time for the 3rd installment of App Wrap Up. Man, there's just so many games coming out. I guess it's cause everyone is finally gearing up towards the final quarter, which is just game overload for every platform. I guess we can expect to see a lot more of these. As always, we're just posting trailers of games that look like they might have something interesting to offer. Our analysis is based on the trailers. Without further ado, let's begin. Sunshine (Morbidware di Diego Sacchetti) I've played a couple games like this before for review. They're simple 'one touch to jump' platformers that utilise the orbit of planets, kind of like a 2d Super Mario Galax…
App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 8th August 2012)
Yesterday i said we had another app wrap up for you and here we go! Remember as always, we can't speak on the quality of these games, just that they look like they might have something interesting to offer. SoundReaktor (Innovative Labs) A rhythm game dealing with loops, samples and sound effects. Kind of giving you overview over a mixing board, hit the button or buttons at the appropriate time to buld the song and keep it going. Bonus buttons look to add to your overall score. This video is one of many on their channel showcasing a playthrough of particular songs, and there's even freestyle options to just play around.[App Store Link] Roxy Dark and the Spydrs (RPGM) Arachn…
App Wrap Up (Tuesday Edition, 7th August, 2012)
For those of you who enjoy the App Wrap Up column, there will be one tomorrow as well. There's been a slew of titles, and i learned my lesson the last time i tried to cover them all in one installment. As always, we have not tried the games in question. We are only speculating on them based on their trailers and that it looks like there is something interesting to offer. Without further ado, let's begin. Getting Buckets (5 Balloons Interactive Inc.) A basketball themed endless runner where you're collecting buckets. I'm sure there's something i'm missing here, but it's visually pleasing with a host of power ups to keep things interesting. I think it could be worth a play.[App Store…
App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 1st August 2012)
Well we're in the last month of winter (or summer if you like across hemispheres), and then the big releases start happening in the console and PC space. We're sure to see some heavy hitters in the App Store as well but for now here's another App Wrap Up to tide you over with some games that may be worth a play based on their trailers. Let's take a look! Neon Run 21 (Neon Games LLC) I don't gamble much, but when i do, Blackjack or 21 is my game of choice. This is a puzzle game based around the card game, but it really doesn't seem like too much of a puzzle; you're just playing multiple hands at the same time and need to make each one count by the cards you get. If the cards are set…
