We're starting to hear more and more about 'metaverse' style platforms where players can not only play a lot of user-created content but also create their own games and experiences. Platforms like HiberWorld, Roblox and Dreams each keep hitting new milestones. One that doesn't necessarily get talked about much is Struckd. That's due to change soon, with it just surpassing one million games created within its ecosystem.
First-person shooters, racing games and aRPGs are among the variety of games that have been created using the platform, which we originally saw back at our Big Indie Pitch during Gamescom 2016.
It's incredibly intuitive, with a simple drag-drop interface that fits touchscreen perfectly. The developers, Struct AG, have also clearly spent a lot of time working on the UI, which is sleek and easy to use. It's all realised in a slightly low-poly style which keeps the intensity low, but also means that the included assets fit more than one setting - incredibly handy when resources are finite.
In the case that one million games being available on the platform doesn't seem particularly notable, you might be interested to know that some of those games have registered over one million active users - meaning that it's not just a library of forgotten half-games, instead being home to an active community of both players and creators. "More than 1 million games created is an impressive testimony for both our platform and our creative community across the globe. So far, we have only grown organically without any money spent on marketing. To us, that is a sign that people are actively searching for an easily accessible tool to create games on their phone,” says Daniel Reichert, CEO of Struckd.
That milestone also means that there is a new game completed and set live on the product, on average, every two minutes.
If you're interested in trying it out, Struckd is free on both Google Play and the App Store.
