KRAFTON Inc has announced the June Update for its mobile battle royale NEW STATE MOBILE, including a collaboration with Line Friends and the new Survivor Pass. In a rather unexpected collab, it must be said, players can collect costumes and more based on various characters in the Line Friends Series.

Line Friends is a global creative studio that has its roots in the LINE app, the messenger app for the largest social network in Japan. Beginning with the sticker characters Brown & Friends, Line Friends has managed to take those cute characters and turn them into a global brand that has opened multiple stores across the world and collaborated with big hitters such as Netflix and the pop-sensation BTS, and now they have landed in New State.

Until July 21st, players will be able to earn a plethora of Line Friends-themed items to deck their character out with. There are costumes based on major characters such as Brown, Sally anc Cony, as well as a helmet, emotes and skins for vehicles and melee weapons. The Mall region of the map has also undergone a vast change, redecorating to showcase a Line Friends store for people to gawk at, and then presumably get promptly shot in the head for not watching the action. Finally, there is a profile reward event with prizes such as a themed profile image, frame, a chicken medal and profile frame effect by completing daily missions.

The June update also brings with it a new Survivor Pass, which adds Alex May from the Strategist faction to the game. Players can earn Alex’s costumes and character appearance by completing the story missions, and anyone who upgrades to the Premium Pass will also receive Alex’s Moonlight Goddess costume set.

New State Mobile has been out since November 2021 and has already surpassed 50 million downloads worldwide, however given its pedigree this isn't shocking. Set in the PUBG universe, the game takes place in 2051 set on a remote island named Troi, populated with futuristic buildings and monuments. Following the future theme the weapons and vehicles are all shiny and advanced too, placing it apart from its more traditional descendant.
