Respawn Entertainment has announced the arrival of a brand new event to its battle royale title Apex Legends Mobile. Starting August 23rd the Hyperbeat Event will kick off, bringing a host of content including a new to mobile Legend.
Surveillance Expert Crypto makes his way to mobile with a few tweaks to make him easier to handle. His signature aerial drones have been redesigned for Apex Legends Mobile to follow Crypto and automatically track enemies for a certain amount of time. Being an expert hacker, Crypto will still excel in information gathering to help plot the best strategies for his team.
His three key skills include his passive Neurolink, his Tactical Surveillance Drone and his Ultimate Drone EMP. Neurolink will mark enemies and traps that the surveillance drone detects within 30 meters for the team, and Cryptos tactical will deploy a pilotable drone for manual scouting of the battlefield. Drone EMP will deliver a huge EMP blast that deals damage to shields, slows enemies and disables traps, quite a potent control skill.
The Hyperbeat Event will also update the Kings Canton, adding a new town takeover in the Pythas Theater that will offer a chance to fight through Rhapsody’s POI-altering song to claim a reward. There will also be new VIP supply bins scattered throughout the Canyon for players to collect VIP passes to unlock access to crates containing powerful gear.
In some unfortunate news, in order to make space for a new ranked split, everyone's rank will be reset, much like at the beginning of the previous season. On the plus side, some additional ranked rewards will be added, so there will be some incentive to clamber back up the ladder.
Apex Legends Mobile is available to download now on the App Store and Google Play, with the Hyperbeat Event kicking off on August 23rd. For the full patch notes, visit the official site.
