The numbers are in for PUBG Mobiles' first in-game concert, and the turnout is looking very promising for music fans. The Virtual, as it was dubbed, was held by BLACKPINK, and looks very promising for future repeats of the like.
Being held across two weekends, the concert with K-pop superstars BLACKPINK attracted a huge 15.7 million viewers overall. In addition, the music video for the special collaboration track Ready for Love was watched on Youtube 146 million times. With that many people being drawn to the game for the concert it wouldn’t be surprising to see another concert being held in-game in the future.
Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing at Tencent Games said “We want to thank all of our players and BLINKs alike for their support in making this PUBG MOBILE’s biggest partnership yet. It’s been such an honour bringing the incredible music of BLACKPINK into PUBG MOBILE. PUBG MOBILE always wants to present its players with new cutting-edge experiences and to be at the forefront of popular culture.”
“This partnership has been all about bringing together the worlds of music and gaming and uniting fans across the globe. We’re looking ahead to the future for more incredible experiences we can bring to the community so stay tuned.”
YG Entertainment also commented, saying: "It was a great pleasure for us to have another meaningful partnership with PUBG MOBILE. Hope we can show various sides of BLACKPINK through music and more. 2nd FULL ALBUM [BORN PINK] will be released on September 16 and World tour start from October. Stay tuned for it!"
Anyone who missed The Virtual can still catch it on YouTube, and in-game BLINKS can still represent the iconic band members by obtaining the custom-made outfits the group wore, obtainable until August 31st. In addition, the exclusive BLACKPINK Voice Packs that contain the never-before-heard voice commands from the members are still currently usable.
PUBG Mobile is available to download now on the App Store and Google Play.
