In a very unexpected announcement, Lilith Games has announced a collaboration between its idle-RPG game AFK Arena, and the smash hit Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players will be able to recruit some iconic characters from the series to play alongside.
AFK Arena is no stranger to big collaborations, with characters from popular series such as Joker and Queen from Persona 5, Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed, and Ainz Ooal Gown and Albedo from Overlord. However, Witcher 3 is a high-value IP bound to draw in the crowds. Especially given the Lilith Games have managed to net Geralt's voice actor Doug Cockle to record the voice-acted lines for the partnership.
The popular characters Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg trade the Continent for Esperia as they lend their skills to the AFL Arena battlefield. Geralt uses a mix of sword-based melee combat and alchemy, much like his Witcher game style, whereas Yennefer uses powerful magic focusing on arcane spells that target groups of enemies, befitting the mighty mage.
"I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt IP!" said Don, AFK Arena Developer. "Many of our production team staff, including myself, are big fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. For this collaboration, we’ve designed gameplay inspired by the wondrous world of The Witcher, and all of the content is exclusive to AFK Arena. We’re so looking forward to releasing the crossover to our players!"
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released in 2015 and is based on The Witcher series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. They follow the story of Witcher Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, and his adopted daughter Ciri, a Source who was born with immense magical powers.
AFK Arena is available to download free for the App Store and Google Play.
