Is it a bird, is it a plane, or is it a well-known superhero franchise? Marvel Entertainment and Niantic have announced a new AR mobile game Marvel World of Heroes. Revealed at the Disney & Marvel games Showcase at Disney’s D23 Expo 2022, this is bound to be a game that generates a whole host of buzz.
Marvel World of Heroes is getting a headstart in life with a trinity of heavy hitters behind it; Disney, one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world, Marvel, with the MCU breaking all sorts of records and running the box office, as well as Niantic, one of the most popular and celebrated developers of AR games. It is hard to not have high hopes.
This mobile game marks the first Marvel game that allows players to become their own unique Marvel Super Hero, bringing all the well-known powers into the real world. The game is, of course, based around the social experience as most Niantic games are, and will pit players and their friends against the Marvel Super Villians and various interdimensional threats.
Players can create their own unique Super Hero identity and origin story, and if the trailer is anything to go by, wield powers like Thor and Dr Strange. The game will have heroes patrolling their neighbours to foil crime and complete Super Hero missions. By levelling up now equipment and abilities will be available, and iconic heroes will be available to team up with such as Spider-Man, Wolverine and Captain America.
Although there has been no concrete release date, Marvel World of Heroes will release in 2023 much to the relief of all the budding superheroes. For the latest news players can visit the new official site, or find @marvelworldgame on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
