Rocket League Sideswipe is entering its 7th Season of vehicular football, and there are quite a few big changes afoot. From massive overhauls of systems, to the reintroduction of an old favourite mode, this is already shaping up to be one incredibly entertaining year for fans.

One of the biggest objectives in Sideswipe is to climb as high as possible in the ranked mode to earn Season Rewards that provide you with some shiny plates to show off. However, Season 7 has introduced a few changes to the whole system. Seasons will now be shorter, lasting eight weeks while rank resets have been lessened a bit, taking you back to the first tier of whatever rank you end up. So if you are Silver 2, you will start at Silver 1. The changes sound fairly positive upfront, but next Season will show how it truly goes.

As much fun as Sideswipe is in the solo modes, it has to be said it shines more in duos, with your teammate setting up shots, putting away your setups or defending. Season 7 builds on this more, with the return of Ranked 3v3 matches. Taking place on the larger Longfield Arena, players will be able to enjoy even more team-based acrobatics. It’s also worth remembering that Swidesipe has its collision mechanic floating around, so six players on a map could lead to see fun tackle-based shenanigans.

It would be fair to say that one of the worst monetisations in gaming is Season Passes. You either need to grind every day or throw money at a game, lest you miss out on exclusive items. It’s a bit gross, but luckily Rocket League has revamped their own Rocket Pass. Starting now, progression will not reset between Seasons, instead, becoming a permanent tracker of your progress and allowing you to grind for items at your own pace. If you need more ways to grab items, the Item Shop will be restocking with some sparkly goodies such as the Sky Blue Quartz Goal Explosions or the Orange Halo Topper.
