Before we had the likes of Dark Souls and Dead Cells and all those other punishing games, the original tormenter was definitely The Oregon Trail, and now, Tilting Point with the help of Enixan and HarperCollins Productions is bringing us a new way to play, with The Oregon Trail: Boom Town.

If you have never played The Oregon Trail personally, then you most likely still would have heard about it since it has permeated pop culture in a big way. You take control of a family in the 19th century travelling the titular trail from Missouri to Oregon whilst dealing with your wagon wheels breaking, your ox dying, and your players contracting dysentery and dying every few miles.

The constant threat and issues you face on the trail can be off-putting to some players, but have no fear, as The Oregon Trail: Boom Town is here to provide you with a slightly less nerve-wracking way to explore the old west. You are now tasked with turning Independence, Missouri, the starting point of the original journey, into a thriving town to help prepare settlers on their way.

You will need to construct buildings such as a Pharmacy or Farm, grow food, craft items and gather anything that a settler might need, and they will definitely tell you what they want as a big part of the game is fulfilling their shopping lists. Instead of striking out on the harrowing trail yourself, it is rather your job to give other travellers the best chance you can.

The Oregon Trail has entertained generations of fans, and we’re incredibly thrilled to partner with Enixan and HarperCollins Productions to bring a new twist to this classic game,” said Kevin Segalla, CEO and Founder of Tilting Point.

Caroline Fraser of HarperCollins Productions added: “The Oregon Trail has captivated many millions of fans for decades. We hope players are immediately hooked by this brand-new way to play a game they love.”

The Oregon Trail: Boom Town can be downloaded now from the App Store and Google Play.
