Last month, the community of Mini Motorways had a vote on what map from Dinosaur Polo Clubs’ other mini-game, Mini Metro, they want to be added to the game. The results are now ready to be implemented this July following the 10-year Miniversary.
30 maps were in the running, with the vote getting knocked down to four of the world's biggest cities; London, New York, Paris, and Hong Kong. After some close voting, New York City has crowned the winner, which was the be expected. As well as this new city, London and Mumbai will also be receiving some new roundabouts and highways in Mini Motorways.
As well as the vote winner, the cities of Tokyo, Warsaw and Lison are on the way, awaiting adaptable railways systems and offering some new challenges. Yes, you read that correctly, Mini Motorways will be adding the highly requested new feature to three maps; trains. All this will be getting added to the game on July 24th.
This huge update follows Dinosaur Polo Club celebrating 10 years of its Mini-world, in the aptly named Miniversary, starting from the humble beginnings of Mini Metro. Coming as a project for the Lundum Dare Game Jam in 2013, it can certainly be listed as a success story as it received a BAFTA nod and spawned its younger sibling; Mini Motorways. In some way, this spiritual success has surpassed the original, winning the Independent Games Festival Audience Award in 2022.
When reflecting on the journey, Dinosaur Polo Clubs Marketing Coordinator, Ben Emerson, said: “It’s a special milestone to celebrate with our players and bring so many exciting crossover maps and features into both games for everyone to enjoy.
“I think players will really like the addition of trains into Mini Motorways too, it’s been a long time coming, and this has felt like the perfect time to introduce such a highly requested new feature to this game. Here’s to another 10 years of Mini!”
