The race is on to claim the World Seed in the Contest of Champions, with two new characters being frontrunners. Strike Fear will see Dani Moonstar and Lady Deathstrike face off to claim this powerful Asgardian artefact, with the winner drastically altering The Contest for good.
Lady Deathstrike began her life as Yuriko Oyama, daughter of the mad Japanese kingpin who mastered the art of grafting Adamantium to bones. After dispatching her father in pursuit of vengeance, Yuriko became obsessed with protecting her family's honour, going as far as transforming herself into a cyborg with healing capabilities and claws to hunt down the man she deemed to of stole her family secret, Wolverine.
Dani Moonstar is the occasional leader of the New Mutants, and a general star member, descended from the Cheyenne people who discovered she had illusion-based powers as a teenager. After struggling to control her powers, originally only being able to conjure people's worst feats, she eventually mastered her power and channels them into power Neural Arrows. However, given that the cinematic shows her missing five shots, two when her target is unaware and standing still, she might need a bit more training.
For two powerful characters with interesting backstories, however, their combat seems to be fairly generic. Lady Deathstrike's abilities all focus on just a rapid series of strikes, including her Ultimate, although admittedly that is her only power. Moonstar however had a lot more potential for her illusion powers, instead, she plays like the other bow wielders; creating space with a few quick blows and then unleashing arrows.
If you particularly like either of these two characters, then Moonstar will be landing in the game on June 15th, with Lady Deathstrike following shortly after on June 20th. Through June, you can also catch a collaboration between the Battlerealm and a few well-known comic artists, as they create some exclusive artwork to honour Pride Month.
