In a very exciting reveal at Ubisoft Forward 2023, we had the chance to view the excellent new trailer for the upcoming adventure RPG, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade. Ubisoft and developers Level Infinite also announced the closed beta test, starting in summer 2023.

You will be playing as Xia in the third century BC, during one of the first unification of China. The prospect of trade between the East and West is becoming a reality but brings with it hidden dangers. After your close friend is betrayed, you will set out on a journey of revenge, before uncovering secrets that stand to destroy Xias’ very view of life.

With a map that is shaping up to be quite impressive, you will have the chance to explore the Great Wall, traverse through the streets of the imperial capital of Xianyang, and marvel at the works of art that are the Terracotta Warriors. You will also come into frequent contact with the Xiongnu, a group of nomadic warriors whose constant raids you must defend against.

What is very interesting is that from the looks of the trailer, this will be a full-blown Assassins Creed experience on mobile devices. The closest we have had to that was Identity before that shutdown, and even though Rebellion is an excellent game in its own right, it lacks that iconic open-world aspect. Codename Jade looks very exciting.

We also get to see an impressive array of weaponry available to use. With twin swords, a spear and even a very un-assassin-like two-handed axe, Jade will give players the chance to forgo stealth and bonk their well through the targets, much like Valhalla and some more recent titles. Whilst I still personally prefer the stealth approach, it's nice when they give you different paths.
