RisingWings, a subsidiary of Krafton, has opened pre-registrations for its upcoming real-time strategy defence title Defense Derby. You can take on three other players in PvP matches and battle it out to see who has the brains to be the last tower standing.

As with all defence games, placement is important, but this is doubly so here. Where you place your units in your tower, and the type and faction of units you place, can all result in powerful synergy effects and will impact the usefulness of their abilities. You will need to carefully organise your team to come out on top.

Defense Derby's most unique and interesting-sounding aspect is how you acquire units. At the beginning of each turn, you and three players will all enter a Scouting Stage, where you all bid to hire a certain card. You will need to balance keeping enough currency for later rounds and ensuring you recruit who you need for your combos.

The best part of this will come down to the strategies you can implement during scouting. Of course, you could try to get the best units, but you can also weaken your opponents. If you notice one of your foes is only bidding on Beast units, you can guess the build they are going for, and it's possible you can interfere and snipe those cards if you feel mischievous.

If you pre-register for Defense Derby then you will nab yourself a Welcome Package upon launch later this year. There is a bounty of items included, such as 20,000 Gold, a Rare Hero card, a Rare Unit card, and a Special Castle Skin. All pretty solid ways to get ahead, especially the rare cards.
