If you can put aside all the inherent plot holes, time travel stories can be incredibly interesting, and developer Bluepoch is preparing to tell a fascinating one in the upcoming RPG Reverse: 1999. The closed beta is open for sign-ups, so don’t miss your chance to be part of the Utopia Test.
Reverse 1999 takes place in an alternate history where the supernatural and arcane forces are at the whim of Arcanists, those born with natural spellcasting abilities. On the final day of 1999, strange phenomena occurred, with Arcanists noticing reality-warping effects from raindrops falling upwards, to the whole art style of the world-changing eras. This event was dubbed the Storm.
You will play the role of the Timekeeper of the St Pavlov Foundation, Vertin, the sole person who seems to be unaffected by the Storm that is erasing others from existence. Embark on a journey across eras, recruit some capable allies, and find a way to correct the course of time before it is too late.
Sign-ups for the beta test, delightfully called The Utopia Test, will be closing on July 31st and will take place from August 4th to August 13th. There are only 1,500 spaces available, and any number in excess will result in a random draw so there is still time to have a fair chance to be involved
Anyone lucky enough to get picked will be able to play through the first few chapters of Reverse 1999's story, and will also get a few items to give them a headstart. For those of us who don’t get picked, the beta testers will be encouraged to share content on social media using the hashtag #Reverse1999CBT, so at least we can leer from the sidelines.
Sign up for the Reverse 1999 beta now for either iOS or Android through the Utopia Test website.
