In a questline two decades in the making, by which I mean they did one quest 20 years ago and have decided to revisit it now, Jagex is continuing a treasure hunt in Old School RuneScape. There will be new bosses to battle and a host of powerful items to reap.

Back in 2005, RuneScape launched one of its most beloved quests, Desert Treasure. It introduced players to the Mahjarrat, and shed some light on this ancient people. You were tasked with collecting some diamonds to release one of the most powerful members of the race, Azzanadra, from his prison of 1,000 years.

Desert Treasure 2 will pick up the dormant story, and send players packing on a new epic quest set across four new areas. You will also coincidentally encounter four new bosses, each with their own unique mechanics and abilities, requiring bespoke strategies for each. If you manage to complete the quest, you can revisit these fights for extra rewards, such as the powerful Virtus Armour.

Conquer these four bosses to learn how to gain access to an ancient vault, said to contain a bounty of riches. Beware, however, as opening this vault could potentially change Gielinor forever. Does your greed for treasure justify changing the course of the world? The answer is yes, of course, give me the shinies.

Accessing the vault is indeed worth it, as you will net yourself four new best-in-slot rings. These will boost strength, ranged skills, magic, and melee, quite a valuable haul. You will also get a fully upgraded Ancient Sceptre that will get stronger with each defeated boss and during the course of the quest you will find the four pieces for a unique two-handed axe.

Old School Runescape can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
