Fans of football and over-the-top flashy anime moves are in luck, as DeNA has announced an upcoming testing phase for its new instalment in the famous Captain Tsubasa series; Ace. If you like your football action-packed and your players turning into frozen eagles to do a special kick, then you are in the right place.

For those who haven’t engaged with the Captain Tsubasa series before, it is almost exactly what you would imagine an anime football series to be. Every shot, pass, and defensive manoeuvre has a special name, the protagonist was saved from being hit by a truck by a football when he was one - it is ridiculous in the most endearing way, and the games are always top-notch arcade-style fun.

Captain Tsubasa: Ace is the latest in this line of officially licensed games, with players taking control of classic characters such as Kojiro Hyuga, Genzo Wakabayashi, and of course old truck ball himself, Tsubasa Oozora. There will be a comprehensive roster that will be increased so everyone can make their dream roster.

There will be a variety of modes to take on, of course starting with the Story Mode which recreates some of the series' most beloved storylines and also rewards those who complete it with Growth Rewards. Ace Showdown is a 5v5 match with an AI goalkeeper, for a faster pace match to test your skills.

The biggest mode is shaping up to be the Dream League. This is a full 11v11 mode pitting your top squad against others across the world. You will need to keep an eye on the entire field, watching the ebb and flow of the opposition's formation and tactics, mixing yours up to combat them and whip out your super shiny dog, not a typo, shot at the perfect time.

Captain Tsubasa: Ace will be available on the App Store and Google Play, and you can follow any developments on the official site.
