One of the games in the 2024 mobile calendar I am genuinely really looking forward to is The Godfeather: A Mafia Pigeon Saga, it promises to be incredibly stupid fun and I adore these types of games. It seems I am not the only one, as the SXSW Sydney 2023 show is throwing Godfeather its very own gala.

Godfeather is a fantastic titled swoop and poop game, as you step into the claws of an associate in the pigeon mafia who is tasked with taking back your old neighbourhood from your enemies. You do this the only way you know how; dispensing dirty justice from the sky onto your unsuspecting targets, because getting hit by bird poop will always ruin your day.

The hype for release is building, especially as the inaugural SXSW Sydney hits. The famed event leaves its usual Austin haunt, instead heading down under from October 15th to the 22nd. If you are around the Fortress Sydney on October 18th, then you will be able to take part in the party for The Godfeather ahead of its mobile launch in 2024.

When speaking of the inclusion, Hojo Studios Rick Salter said: “Working with Screen Australia and SXSW Sydney has given us an opportunity to demonstrate how independent creative studios can develop original IP and tell unique stories across a variety of media. For an Indie studio like ours, support from Screen Australia and SXSW Sydney has been instrumental in getting our game to launch.”

Heaping praise on the game, Screen Australia's Head of Online and Games, Lee Naimo, said: “What’s not to love about this light-hearted and entertaining game? With an unruly pigeon at the centre of the gameplay, vibrant graphics and plenty of targets to keep you on your toes – players will be hooked in no time. We’re so excited for this team to be selected for the inaugural SXSW Sydney - it’s next stop before it takes flight to gamers around the globe.”

We certainly agree with Naimos’ thoughts, and whilst The Godfeather: A Mafia Pigeon Story has no solid mobile release date as of yet, SXSW Sydney is a great way to get a sneak beak.
