After months of build-up, Albion Online has finally welcomed one of its most content-stuffed updates yet; Wild Blood. With a host of additions such as the new Shapeshifter Weapons, Awakened Items, and Tracking, there are plenty of new ways to play and features to discover.
The biggest headline here is undoubtedly the Shapeshifter Weapons. Wielding these new staffs, you can now change into beastly forms during battle to add monstrous new abilities to your combat. Better yet, the staff itself has its own playstyle, so it’s two ways to play in one. You can build your standard form to compliment your Shape or completely contrast for the ultimate coverage.
Admittedly a little unexpectedly, one of the biggest gameplay impacts comes from the Tracking feature. You can use this to hunt your quarry across the open world, through different regions searching for the next trace that will lead you to a big battle against your target, which yields rewards necessary to craft Shapeshifter Weapons. This new skill sounds so much grander than it could have been, chasing beasts across the length of the land, and should make for some epic adventures.
If you want to leave an indelible mark on Albion, then the Awakened Items are for you. These can gain attunement points through combat that can be spent on traits, resulting in a uniquely built weapon with your name branded on it. Should you lose this in PvP, your lovingly crafted weapon may be lost, but it could return as loot, carrying on its story with another player.
For those who like a homestead, players can now own multiple Personal Islands, with one per city. To reflect this, the island's visuals and biome will reflect those of their host city, and gain a farming bonus based on its location. Prefer to battle? Then head to the improved Randomized Dungeons, with a host of new layouts available, and the chance to encounter the Colossi and Titans from the Living Legacy event. Plus if you die, the new Death Recap will let you relive that moment in excruciating detail.
Albion Online can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
