For a horror-themed game, it might be difficult to decide how to celebrate the Halloween holiday, but this year Vampire Survivors has quite the novel solution. They are absolutely ignoring the spooky season and instead starting Christmas early with the release of its Whiteout update.
Vampire Survivors is a multi-BAFTA winner that touts itself as a “be the bullet hell” game, where you face wave after wave of monsters for you to mow down. Each stage gives you the chance to select a new weapon or power-up going forward, with the goal of surviving as long as you can. You will fall, but you can still try to take everyone down with you.
Whiteout will bring a host of new content with it, including the eponymous new stage. A snowy field with falling flakes will be a backdrop to your Christmas massacre. To help you clear out those pesky enemies ruining your winter wonderland, you can pick up the new Glass Fandango weapon, with two separate firing modes whether you are moving or static.
If you want to get your hands on this weapon more regularly, then check out the new character; She-Moon Eeta. They start with a high Armor and Movement Speed, so bring with them a lot of survivability. They also have the CriticalHP skill, which is pretty broken. When falling below 25% HP, they will cause a 10-second time freeze, which recharges whenever you recover full health. For obvious reasons, it won’t proc when hit by an attack strong enough to finish you outright.
Finally, there are two new Relics to collect. The Antidote allows you to then buy the Defang power-up which will prevent some enemies from dealing damage. The Chaos Altemanna will allow an existing character, O’Sole Meeo, to morph when reaching level 80. They will receive a stat boost, and an upgraded gun, the best Christmas present.
