Neon Doctrine and GameChanger Studio announced the release of their gothic creature collector, My Lovely Wife, during The Indie Horror Showcase this year. An intriguing mix of dating sim, management and alchemy, it has what has to be one of the most intriguing concepts I have seen in a while.
You take control of a budding alchemist named Jake who gains the knowledge to summon demonic entities to do his bidding, primarily through working in the shop and whatnot using the game's management mechanics. Each demon has its own stats which affects how much gold they earn. The better you do, the more your whole town upgrades and you might just find love in the process. Sounds nice right?
Well given that it's Halloween and not Valentine's, it couldn't be that simple. See, before the game Jake’s wife, Luna, tragically passes away, leading our erstwhile hero to plummet into the depths of grief. Contained within this new demonic summon knowledge, however, is a spell that can bring her back should you find a suitable vessel, and I am sure you can see where this is going.
Yes, the overarching aim of the game is to seduce some unwitting demon, whom you will then sacrifice to acquire the essence needed to resurrect your lost wife. There are over forty endings to achieve, one for each demon, plus two main endings, depending on who you choose to romance, and more importantly, if you learn to move on from Luna, or commit a brazen act of betrayal on your new paramour to try to resurrect her.
For all you budding demon romancers out there, My Lovely Wife is available to download from the App Store for $6.99, or if you would prefer to pursue more masculine hellspawn, you can get the base game and the Irresistible Incubus content for $8.99. Unfortunately for, all of you Android users out there, you will need to stick with seducing boring humans.
