It is time to dust off those thumbs and say goodbye to your sanity, as auto-running platformer Super Meat Boy Forever is starting off 2024 with a huge update with two huge new modes. If you made a New Year's resolution to cut down on stress, this might not be for you.
For those not acquainted with Super Meat Boy Forever, it is quite a tricky platformer where you have no chance to take a break, you are always moving forward towards at least one thing that wishes to harm you, and the levels are randomly generated every time you enter so you can’t learn it. In short, welcome to pain.
The rather delightfully named Meat Grinder comes complete with two new ways to play. The Daily Grind is a randomly generated level that challenges players to reach the end as fast as possible, with the chance to keep repeating it to land the best time on the leaderboard. Or, hit Quick Play to get a level made out of all the chunks in a chapter.
Those sick, twisted, creative souls out there will have a place to call home in the Forever Forge, a place that will showcase the best of user-generated levels. Right now, the level creation tools are just on PC, but you can check out the in-house created Abattoir level, and start planning your own diabolical levels.
In a final piece of good news for those of you out there who just have to have the latest tech, Super Meat Boy Forever has now received support for Android-based folding phones. I can’t imagine a crease in the middle of all the chaos can be really helpful, or it might be a new difficulty modifier for those who want the ultimate challenge. Either way, good news.
Super Meat Boy Forever is available to download from the App Store and Google Play for just $0.99, perfect for the masochist on a budget.
