Since its launch, Roblox has had some phenomenal growth and, despite its criticisms, has cemented itself as one of the go-tos for creating your own games. And now, thanks to Gamefam, players will soon be able to head to that fabled pineapple under the sea with the first official Roblox game based on Spongebob Squarepants.

Bikini Bottom will be swinging open its watery gates on January 26th, and will task players to explore the iconic world for a bit of collection-mania. There will be a variety of special mini-buddies to collect modelled after the famous cast, such as snails, jellyfish, and the characters themselves.

What’s more, players will even be able to step into the shoes of Bikini Bottom residents, with Mr Krabs, Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star, and Mr Bobert himself. Don these visages and head out to recognisable areas including Conch Street, Goo Lagoon, and Kelp Forest. Join up with Roblox's 70 million daily users, and see this underwater metropolis in a whole new way.

During the announcement, Gamefam Chief Business Officer, Ricardo Briceno, said: “Gamefam's ultimate goal is to bring joy to players, and through this amazing partnership with the Paramount team, we turned one of the most beloved animated franchises into one of the most visually stunning games ever released on Roblox.

“Millions of existing and new SpongeBob SquarePants fans will be able to actively immerse themselves in Bikini Bottom like never before.”

Adding to this, Paramount’s Senior Vice President, Doug Rosen, said: “Deepening the connection with fans of our hit franchises through interactive and immersive experiences is a key facet of our long-term gaming strategy.”
