Thanks to being one of the biggest entertainment industries in the world, gaming can be an incredible force for good, and the latest example of this is Genshin Impact teaming up with the Discovery Channel to present the Teyvat Nature Discovery Tour, in an attempt to raise awareness of the vital yet sadly fragile natural habitats of earth.
Learning can be boring, let's be honest, so the Voices of Nature documentary takes a more playful approach, with a selection of environments themselves telling you their roles in nature and why they need protecting. There are also so startling facts thrown in, such as the real possibility that by 2050, plastic will outweigh all the fish in the ocean.
If you watch the eight-minute video and think that you recognise some of the voices, you'd be correct, as the collaboration has some big talent behind it. The Coral Reef is played by environmental activist Lily Cole, expert survivalists Max Djenohan and Ed Stafford from First Man Out voice Snowy Mountains and the Desert and The Forest is played by Springwatch legend Kate Humble. Perhaps the biggest name though is the actor behind The Ocean, is none other than Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, that acclaimed show we all agree had no final season.
Starting tomorrow, March 16th, the Discover Traces, Explore Nature web event will kick off, with Primogems and an exclusive Serenitea Pot Furnishing available to nab by completing challenges with Kaveh, the Genshin spokesperson for the tour. You will also encounter Beidou, Albedo, Tighnari, Candace, and most importantly, Kokomi, who still illudes my team.
For real-world goodies, the Teyvat Nature Discovery Tour offline benefit sale will have a limited tour, with a host of merchandise to purchase, with all proceeds going to the rainforest conservation organization Cool Earth. They will be hitting Paris, Berlin, Roma, Seoul, and London, with the exact dates and times listed here. The UK one starts today and lasts until the 17th, and Germany is from the 16th to the 17th, so act fast for these two. Big note though, they only accept card payments.
Genshin Impact can downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
