With games, there are some collaborations that you hear about and go yes that makes all the sense in the world, and then there is the Asphalt 9: Legends announcement. I have never watched or read My Hero Academia, but I don’t recall hearing the arc where they became professional racers, yet here we are.
Despite the lack of synergy between the two, there is no denying that this team-up is quite the coup for developers Gameloft. Despite only launching in 2014, My Hero Academia exploded into popular culture with widespread acclaim, easily becoming one of the best-selling manga series and reaping multiple rewards. Why not sell your appeal a bit?
This collab event will be laid out across 19 stages and feature a fully custom UI and voice lines from the official EN dub, pulling you right into the series’ world. As you complete these limited-time levels, sticking around until July 17th, you will unlock the special items this event provides. Stage one will reward you the Dark Deku decal, from a pivotal arc of the hero's history.
Outside of the dastardly dark side of our protagonist, there is a host of other rewards to get your hands on. Starting with what seems like the headlines, you get nab two Animated Decals; Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo. As arguably the two main characters of the story, that feels only right.
There are also six Static Decals to collect, including Dark Deku. You can also collect Ochaco Uraraka, Shot Todoroki, Tsuyu Asui, Himiko Toga, and a very charming Group Decal with a host of Academia characters. Finally rounding off the pack are eight Chibi Emotes to taunt your opponents with and Two Club Icons.
Asphalt 9: Legends is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
