When I am not working I will most likely be sitting in front of my laptop playing Final Fantasy XIV, the game that launched a thousand critically acclaimed memes. There are only two things that would make it better; a fully immersive VR simulation, or a mobile version, and we might just have news on the latter.

According to research by Daniel Ahmad over at Niko Partners, on August 2nd Chinese publisher Tencent received approval for the import of four new games; Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, Rainbow Six, Dynasty Warriors, and Marvel Rivals. Now, some of you may know there is no Mobile version of FFXIV anywhere, and that is because this is a joint development project between Tencent and Square Enix.

In the same TwiX thread, Ahmad stated their belief that Final Fantasy XIV Mobile will be a standalone game from the current iteration, although this is just based on industry chatter. If that ends up being the case we would be looking at a Pear Abyss situation, where we have the two great Black Desert titles.

There is also a belief that this mobile version has already been developed, and it's a mere three to six months from release, which would be excellent news. Or rather, it would be, if this wasn’t looking like it would be a China-exclusive property for the time being. Of course, with FFXIV propping up a lot of Squares revenue, it's a safe bet that this will at some point be released worldwide.

Besides the Final Fantasy news, the import of Rainbow Six acts as quite the boon for Ubisoft in the region. Rainbow Six Siege was all but banned in China, being restricted from streaming and never having official approval. No matter what this ends up being, it's a win for the company.
