Mobile gaming fans will have a lot to celebrate as publisher Akupara Games has announced the launch of three titles on iOS and Android, and they all sound pretty great, Dusklight Studio’s Zoeti and The Darkside Detective series from Spooky Doorways are now available to pick up on play on the go.
I have historically never been the biggest roguelike fan, but I have recently been warming to them with Binding of Issac and Hades, and now I might be adding Zoeti to the list. This is a turn-based game where you wield a deck of playing cards in battle and create a powerful combo to whip out skills.
You play as a Star-Soul hero, one of the select few capable of purging evil from the land. Through playthroughs, you will collect skills, meet colourful characters, and master the gameplay that has you forming actual poker combinations like a full house or royal flush to do battle. It sounds like a very fun combination of traditional card and video games, and I am here for it. If it sounds up your street, head to Google Play and the App Store, but be prepared to drop $7.99.
Our second offering, or technically second and third, is The Darkside Detective series, comprising of the eponymous first entry and A Fumble in the Dark. In these titles, you play the role of Detective Francis McQueen, a classic trenchcoat-wearing detective who heads to Twin Lakes in order to solve some interesting cases.
That is interesting because the Darkside Divison deals with supernatural and paranormal cases. You will use the power of point and click to assist McQueen and his sidekick, Officer Patrick Dooley, find out what is going on behind the bumps in the night. Together the two titles will offer around 15 bite-sized cases to tackle, stuffed full of humour and award-winning shenanigans. You can pick up the original from the App Store and Google Play, and the sequel is also available on iOS and Android, but they will cost $6.99 apiece.
