Alien: Isolation originally launched back in 2014, and is perhaps the greatest video game adaptation of the franchise. I remember playing the mobile port when it dropped in 2021 and it still holds up, and it played incredibly well. Thanks to Creative Assembly’s recent announcement, if you are an Android user you can pick it up and see how it feels for absolutely nothing.
It feels like Apple has had a monopoly on the AAA titles recently, and this same offer has been active for months over there, so this will hopefully do wonders to boost the Android gamer profile a little bit. Personally, it is my preferred system. Before you get too carried away, Alien: Isolation will be a try before you buy, but only for the first two missions. Still, nothing to shake a stick at, it's a model more developers should move to.
If you find yourself hooked after the free trial, or you just have a very strange desire to be digested by an Alien, then you can upgrade via in-app purchase and transfer your save data across. Beware, though, that this will set you back $13.49, which is a bit of a sum for a decade-old game, let’s be honest. It does still stand up, though.
What makes the price more worthwhile is that you will also receive all seven of the game's DLCs, which is a pretty good deal. This will give you some extra maps for the time-challenge Survivor Mode, access to the Salvage Moe, and the ability to play as Ellen Ripley in Last Survivor. Suddenly that price tag looks a lot more palatable.
Alien: Isolation is available to try now free from Google Play. If you are an Apple user, the same offer has been kicking around the App Store for a while, so you can also check it out.
