Jagex teams up with Pizza Hotline to release a Drum n Bass mix of Old School RuneScape music

It takes a lot of ingredients to make a great video game, but one of the most important parts is the music. It can make an emotional scene gut-wrenching, turn a boss into a BOSS with the One-Winged Angel treatment, or transport you back in time, the latter of which the upcoming Old School RuneScape double vinyl set will no doubt achieve.

Far from being just a release of the RuneScape greatest hits, although don’t get me wrong that would still be a worthwhile purchase, Jagex has worked with London producer Pizza Hotline. Far from just being a name that makes me want to order Dominos, they are renowned for their video game-flavoured Drum n Bass tunes. Guess what direction this is going in.

Amongst the hits on this collection is Garden, treated with a traditional DnB remix, whilst arguably one of the most iconic tracks, Sea Shanty 2, sports a minimal DnB flavour. For those more relaxed evenings, Autumn Voyage has a slower vibe. The album also features some of that signature RuneScape humour, such as the original “Urgh” death sound being inserted in Background.

You can preorder the Limited Edition double vinyl set from the Laced Records store and the official RuneScape Merch Store now. It is a pretty decent price as well, sitting at £36.00, and is a great piece of memorabilia. The set has 11 tracks on blue galaxy-effect heavyweight discs, sitting in a deluxe gatefold sleeve designed by long-time Jagex collaborator Matthew Leiher.

For those who can’t afford that, or don’t have a vinyl player sitting around which fair, you can still enjoy these remixes and major music streaming platforms. The link to all the available places is right here, however, it doesn’t seem to load on Google Chrome, so you might need to switch to Edge just as a heads-up.

If you want to experience the original tunes in all their glory, download Old School RuneScape now from the App Store and Google Play.
