Hill Climb Racing 2 announces an explosive collaboration with Super Bomberman R 2

I believe I speak for everyone when I say plentiful explosives make any game better. Who can resist shooting red barrels or launching grenades at any opportunity? Our next source of combustible goodness is from an odd source, however, as Hill Climb Racing 2 is teaming up with a very old friend; Super Bomberman.

The Bomberman series has been around in one form or another for a long while, although it feels like their global popularity peaked in the 90s. After a brief hiatus from 2010, the series had a reboot of sorts in 2017 with Super Bomberman R, which spawned a sequel last year, and thus here we are.

It is precisely this sequel, Super Bomberman R 2, that is being plastered over Fingersoft’s hit Hill Climb Racing 2, which is a big boon for the Konami IP. Hill Climb has been downloaded over 500 million times, which is an attractive proposition for anyone. What's more of a win for old Bombs, however, is this is the Hill Climb series' first collaboration. A momentous occasion to be sure.

To be fair, it is also quite the odd one. Bomberman's own kart game didn't fare particularly well, and to my knowledge, Hill Climb Racing doesn't have an abundance of targets to blow into smithereens. Perhaps we will be pleasantly surprised, but our shock will have to wait until the collaboration officially kicks off.

I have Googled up a storm, but there doesn’t appear to be much about what this team-up will actually entail. Fingersoft did release a short YouTube video, but all that shows is Bomberman destroying a wall, and then a portal appears with some otherworldly entity on the other side. What we can be sure of though is there will be bombs and lots of them.

Hill Climb Racing 2 is available to download from the App Store and Google Play, with the Super Bomberman R 2 collaboration taking place from September 25th until October 2nd.
