Despite most famously being on the darker side of the moral spectrum, it is hard not to argue that the Symbiotes in Marvel are fantastic. Marvel Snap is honouring this slate of characters in this most fitting month, and no doubt building on the hype for the upcoming film, with the We Are Venom season.

Let's dive into the main attraction here; the new symbiote cards. If you like low-cost decks, then Agent Venom is for you. This 2-cost, 4-Power card sets all cards in your deck to 4power, perfect for an early game rush but you will lose a prolonged fight. It might suit Scream though, a 2/2 who once per turn steals 2 Power from a moving enemy card.

Discarding the 1/2 Scorn will return it to your hand, and will give itself and one of your cards in play +2 Power. Toxin is almost the opposite, returning all your other cards at a location to hand, but gaining +2 Power for each. Agent Venom is a big bruiser, a 4/6, but he sets the Cost and Power of your deck’s top card to 0, opening up a few new strategies.

The rest of the Symbiotes will require some thinking to play. Misery is a 4/7 who will repeat all your card On Reveal abilities in a location, then destroy them, perfect for some last-ditch explosive moves. Finally, playing any card on the same location as the 1/2 Agony will merge it with them, so you will need to consider quantity over one potentially powerful beast.

With new cards come new locations too. F.E.A.S.T. will grant every player +! Energy when a card is played, and when your revealed cards fill Our Lady of Saints, you will have to merge them into a Symbiote. This will all take some time to master, unfortunately, time is what you don't have in the limited-time High Voltage mode, launching October 16th.

Here you will only have three turns, starting with two cards and drawing two per turn. Keeping you on your toes, both you and your opponent will receive the same amount of randomised energy per round. It's a speedy format, so certain cards and locations that slow things down too much are restricted. If you want a free Agony card, you will need to grind here a bit.
