In a bid to distract us all from how cold it is getting, Com2uS has launched Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice, so we can all go well at least I am not there. Based on the critically acclaimed Frostpunk franchise, you can now enjoy failing to survive on the go.

Like most city-building games you will spend your time gathering resources to expand your territory, but with a twist; the cold will kill you if you aren't careful. Assemble expedition teams and send them to battle wild animals, or visit the Weather Station to complete missions. Just be aware that there are many dangers out there, and they may not return.

With the atmosphere itself your greatest foe, you might want to work with your fellow survivors, with trade systems in place to share items. Head to Featured Industry to cooperate for survival, or jump into World Congress to discuss issues such as industries and medical care. There is also a Pub with board games and a fully realised Stock Market.

A lot of games claim that your choices matter whilst ultimately boiling down to just deciding what shirt your character wears, but Beyond the Ice truly means it. So much so that your choices could destroy your whole civilisation. You will need to balance your limited resources to expand your city and keep your population not only alive but happy. There won’t be enough to do everything, so you will need to think ahead.

To celebrate launch there are a few in-game launch events going on. Until November 12th you will get bonus rewards from Expeditions, including daily suppliers and Core Components. Simply logging in until November 8th will net you Shillings, Flares, and more. You can also gran four special coupons with items like Speed Up tickets and Core Components on offer. Finally, the City Step-up Event will be held until November 26th and will offer rare city development items for clearing weekly missions.
