Prepare for snow and a bevvy of new cuddly critters with Pokemon GOs’ upcoming season

The seasons are most definitely changing, as I can attest by how much I am shivering right now, but that also means the arrival of a new season in Pokemon Go. From December 3rd 2024 to March 4th 2025, Dual Destiny will take over and bathe the map in a blanket of snow.

Starting in 2025, Niantic will be hosting the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova, with two in-person events. So, plan your trips to Los Angeles and New Taipei City now. Or, stay at home and take part in the GO Battle League. You can contend in the Fantasy Cup, Holiday Cup, Love Cup, and more.

If you like your Pokemon in a more black, smokey form then how about adding Shadow Regirock, Regice, and Registeel to your squad? What’s more, with Dual Destiny Shadow Pokemon will now have a chance to appear in their shiny forms. Following that spooky-ish vibe, Sinister and Polteagesit will be making their first PokeGo appearances.

In the world of Max Pokemon, there will be three new friends to make. The diminutive fighter Machop and the awfully snippy Krabby will make their Dynamax debut, and yes I am ashamed of that crab pun. Gigantamax Lapras will also be appearing in Max Raids, so trainers around the globe will need to work together to take them down. Hopefully, there will be a meeting at Loch Ness, how fitting that would be.

This update will be a slew of changes to the currently available Pokemon up for grabs. Completing Research breakthroughs will bring out the likes of Jangmo-o, Hisuian Avalugg, and Pancham. Meanwhile, 10km Eggs could spawn you a Druggigon, or you can hoard 7km Eggs and hatch a hoard of Riolu. Lucario for life.

Going out and about will also reveal new critters. City travellers will stumble upon Audino, Klink, and the adorable Litwik. Forests will play host to the likes of Scyther, Mountains will house Rhydon, and Aqua-lovers can run into Finneon. Finally, the north-south divide is alive and well, as Chimchar and Piplup chill in the Northern Hemisphere, and Treecko and Torchip represent the south.

Pokemon Go is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
