It is that vague splat of time in Old School RuneScape when the yearly Leagues kick-off, giving fans two months of challenges to face down and a bevvy of rewards to claim. Dubbed Raging Echoes, it is currently ongoing and will last until January 22nd, and is full of some old favourites and new surprises.
If you have never played a League, the rules are fairly simple. You create a new character under Ironman rules and take on your adventure with set rules and restrictions in place. Luckily in this case, however, you will start with Herblore level 3, Runescraft level 5, and you will have a 5x accelerated experience rate for skills.
Of course, the key part of any League is the tasks you will have to complete in order to earn League Points. These range from the nearly mandatory, such as levelling up any skill for the first time, to the niche, including crying in a wheat field. Perform well enough and you could earn some nifty rewards such as the banner, Leagues Outfit, and Home Teleport Animation.
This season brings back some much-missed features. You will be able to reach Varlamore which is nice, however, area-locking will be a permanent Leagues fixture. Also back with a vengeance are Theroycrafting and Enhanced Bosses. You know, just in case starting from square one wasn’t hard enough, now that dragon might have another head.
A new addition to Raging Echoes comes through Combat Mastery, with a new system of growth to master. Combat Mastery and the Relic System will now work hand in hand to give you near-complete control over your builds. This includes the battle buffs you can unleash, and those much-needed boosts when that goblin camp was a little too ambitious.
