Digital Extremes has been pretty busy in the run-up to what is shaping up to be Warframe's biggest update, 1999. A slew of new information has spilt out of the final Devstream of the year, and soon we will learn that illusive launch date during The Game Awards on December 12th.

Prepare to take on a new brand of PvPvE game mode with Faceoff. Eight players will split into two equal teams, and start on opposite sides of Höllvania as you compete to complete objectives for The Hex. Collecting points will unlock Boosts for you and Hindrances for your opponents, for an explosive amount of fun.

Turning our attention to the massive upcoming 1999 updates, we have a few, mind-blowing new facts. First off, if you have looked into the PC world at any point you will recognise the name. Neil Newbon of Baldurs Gate 3 fame will be playing the role of Lieutenant Viktor Vodyanoi. A higher-up in the Scaldra faction, his frustrations with the current leader are boiling over, and he starts to harbour the desire to depose her.

There is some more information on the upcoming distant messaging system. You will be able to bond with the members of The Hex, with each member giving specific types of rewards. These include music, Arcane upgrades, daily bounties and more. Speaking of The Hex, Cyte-09 is gearing up to release as the 59th Warframe. Utilize cloaking tech, summon the extremely powerful Neutralizer sniper, and scan to see enemies through walls in a kit that is guaranteed to instantly have fans.

Some housekeeping now. The Master Rank Test cooldowns on completion failure have been removed, and weapon and Warframe slot capacity has been raised. Nyx has received a few tweaks ahead of her Hex appearance, and the music boss battles against the Technocyte Coda have been delayed until early 2025.

If you just can’t wait for more content from On-lyne, then you can listen to their latest single now. The Great Despair is out now, and whilst it isn't as amazing as Party of Your Lifetime, it ain’t bad. Warframe is available to download on iOS, and you can pre-register on Android now.
