I am here today with both good and bad news, concerning Warframe: 1999. The special short created in collaboration with THE LINE has finally dropped and is available to watch right now. Unfortunately, this is also the final piece of teaser content we are going to get ahead of the actual launch.
The Hex - Warframe: 1999 Animated Prologue, to give it the full name, is the culmination of months of fun. We got some music from On-Lyne, a host of trailers, the Höllvania Central Mall social hub, a webcomic, and of course the actual playable demo. These are just the things popping into my mind right now.
You will have one thought coming to mind when watching this short, and that is stylish. The art style is pretty sharp, and the music does a fantastic job of making you feel like something big is coming. Also, I can’t help noticing a tactical error from Amir with the motorcycle stunt, and I am curious if that is what he means by “it won’t be like last time” in the prologue mission. Just an observation.
THE LINE are pretty well known for their top-notch animation works, especially in the gaming world. They have partnered with the likes of Marvel Snap and League of Legends multiple times, with big names even outside this sphere. With titles like Cowboy Bebop and even Channel 4 in England, they have quite the portfolio.
As mentioned above, the teasers are now over following this short. We are now left to wonder about the empty, 1999-less world for about a week before The Game Awards. Digital Extremes will be using the show to announce a solid release date when December 12th rolls around. So, make sure you are making, and for the love of god, complete the demo for the special skin if you haven't already.
Warframe is now available to download from the App Store.
