I feel that we are all used to those gimmicks of the moment coming and going. Things like 3D media, or more relevantly to this article, VR. Sure it is still kicking around but I feel like everyone thought it was cool for five minutes then moved on. Well, Beyond Frames Entertainment is ditching the tech for one title, and releasing Down the Rabbit Hole Flattened on the App Store.
All this is not to say that VR is a complete waste, more that as it stands it is not worth it. Yes, I would love to one day live in a fully immersive MMORPG, but right now you need to sink a lot of money into a high-end computer and the headset. Anyway tangent complete, let’s move on.
As the name might have tipped you off, Down the Rabbit Hole is a story based on the Lewis Carroll universe of Alice in Wonderland. Unusually though, the titular Alice isn’t the focus of the tale. Set before she ever arrived in Wonderland, you instead take the role of another girl who stumbled into the magical world in search of her pet, Patches. You will explore magical areas, meet the weird denizens, and hopefully make the right choices to get home.
Previously, Down the Rabbit Hole was only available through VR, unfortunately excluding a lot of people who couldn't afford the requisite hardware. This shocking release marks the end of Beyond Frames Entertainment’s 12 Days of Christmas. This event saw exclusive digital gifts given away to fans, and it continues here.
Down the Rabbit Hole Flattened is completely free to download until January 10th, provided you have an Apple product. Right now, Flattened is only available on the App Store. The Android version will be up for grabs soon, but right now we are lacking an actual release date, so hopefully you will unwrap an Apple product for the holidays.
