Sometimes all you need is a title to sell something to you, so when I say Adventures of a Cat in Space is coming soon, I assume everyone is already hooked. It will also be packing a free demo, so if you are even vaguely interested in a space-bound feline you can check it out for nothing but your time.

Players will take on the mantle of a cat who has been stranded in space, who’d have thought after an unfortunate accident. Your goal will be to make it back to earth to your life of cardboard boxes and swatting things off tables. To do this you will need to explore planets and solve puzzles.

During your journey, you will be aided by the ship’s computer, voiced by Arthur Darvill. The Olivier award-winning actor and musician, best known for his role as Rory Williams in Doctor Who, even performs the theme song. An important note to mention, as music is quite the focus for Cat in Space, being co-developers by family music specialists Little Seeds Music.

There will be 11 original songs in the soundtrack, all composed by acclaimed musician and children’s author David Gibb. They draw inspiration from multiple genres such as pop, jazz, funk, and drum and bass to give each location its own special feeling. Pair this with development studio Tall Story Games' proven track record with adventure games, and Cat in Space is set to be a hit for the whole family.

Adding even more irons to the fire, development was commissioned and funded by The Space, which is a different 'the space' to the one the cat is lost in. Set up in 2013, The Space is an organisation that funds new digital cultural content, as well as provides free training, mentoring and resources for creative practitioners - a noble goal to be sure.

Adventures of a Cat in Space will launch on the App Store this year, with a demo dropping on February 24th.
