It has been a long time coming since the Techrot started to infest our favourite virtual boyband, but it is finally time to face On-lyne in Warframe. The latest Digital Extremes Devsteeam unveiled details of 1999's follow-up update, Techrot Encore, launching in March.
Excitingly, we are going to get four new Protoframes, and I sincerely hope one is Ash, but we won’t know until Devstream 185. We do know we can finally knock the Technocyte Coda around to earn Infested weapons. For even more musically inspired content, the 60th Warframe Temple was teased as the Guitar Warframe.
Outside of combat, the Romance and Relationship System is being tuned up, and there is a 90s-inspired cosmetic pack with new hairstyles, and Sacldra-themed cosmetics hear for the Drifter. Along the same vein, there will be four Scaldra weapons including a sickle and grenade launcher. Finally, a collaboration between metal band Periphery and rock group Good Tiger has spawned an original music track.
This all makes me very impatient, but luckily there's some content planned for February 6th. Rhino is receiving the fourth Heirloom cosmetic skin, and Nightwave Vol. 8 is bringing more 90’s gear. Clan Operation: Belly of the Beast is bringing back the Ascension mode until March 3rd. You can also enjoy your personal recap with Warframe: Your Year in Review.
We are getting the first Prime of 2025 and as it is the Year of the Snake, who else could it be but Lavos Prime? You can expect upgrades to their serpentine whips and their general elemental mastery. The ability to convert Health and Energy Orbs into pickups that provide both is a personal favourite. This will launch on February 12th.
Looking ahead to even more exciting news this year; TennoCon is celebrating its tenth year. Taking place July 18th and 19th, tickets will go on sale February 7th. It will be a two-day event again, stuffed full of autograph signings, cosplay extravaganzas, and the new TennoConcert. This year, the convention will be benefiting Make-A-Wish Canada.
Warframe is available to download from the App Store. And whilst sister game Soulframe isn’t available on mobile and thus we can’t touch on it much, I must sneak in that Prelude players can interact with a Wolf and her pups in a new quest and that is adorable.
