There is that old adage that “crime never pays”, and clearly Albion Online has never heard that because the latest update is all about that sweet, sweet outlaw life. Rogue Frontier is expanding the Outlands and adding a host of ways to enjoy some light-hearted larceny.
You can work with the new Smugglers Faction and undertake missions such as recovering Smuggler Crates and battering the Royal Guard to free captured Smugglers. Failing that, you can simply collect Smuggler’s Coins hidden away in Caches and Coffers to simply buy your way to higher ranks. And if you thought the word Smuggler has already been used too much already, boy you are in for a shock.
Increasing your Smuggler Standing will unlock a trader who will sell Smuggler-themed Vanity Sets, a Cape that reduces your potion cooldown, and a Ring and Avatar. You can also enter the Smuggler’s Dens, bastions for the outlaws scattered around the Outlands. Each of these houses a Network that lets you trade with the Smugglers Market, letting you buy and sell to every Den and Rest in the world.
After thoroughly ruining my S key, let us move on to less roguish news; stabbing other players. Dispatch people in PvP might see them drop a Kill Trophy, a furniture item you can display in the open world or on islands. No doubt people will make temples full of these, and that will be very morbid, and very cool.
To help you harvest these trophies you can pick up three extra Crystal Weapons. The Rotcaller Staff can knock back enemies, the Forcepulse Bracers let you rush foes, and the Skystrider Bow allows you to levitate as you pelt your target with bolts safely from the sky.
To help you hoard items in comfort, the Bank Overview is a UI addition that shows you all your items in every bank in Albion. You still have to travel there to withdraw, but it's great you know exactly where it is. Finally, the Creature Journal category will challenge you to hunt down all of Albion's beasts for rewards, and gatherers can enjoy Dynamic Resource Hotspots.
