I believe I speak for most of us common folk when I say being healthy and building good habits is a right pain in the proverbials. I know I am currently failing my goals, for a start. It's because of this that I am always interested in these fitness, habit-building apps, such as the new offering Threkka, which is available on the App Store.
An everyman game developer named Pete Morrish, a self-insert of the actual dev, was toiling away at his computer one normal day before suddenly being ripped through the void by a thespian Minotaur, named Humbert. This mythical beast bemoans the state of the once-great Gym Between, which currently lies in ruin.
Humbert aims to win the Gold he needs in the Gym’s Workout Challenges but needs to train, and for this, he needs Sweat from training with humans in the real world. Thus we find ourselves in Threkka, training to provide this magical being with the Sweat they need. It's a rather involved, and slightly gross, story it must be said.
Trekka works in tandem with Apple’s Healthkit, which obviously means this is an Apple-only product. You will start in-game with a simple Cardboard Box, but please resist the urge to try to use it for any stealth-based Metal Gearing. Instead, get up and get outside or to the gym in order to gather enough Sweat to upgrade your equipment, complete the challenges, and put the Gym Between on the map.
As you continue to level up, you will start to attract a host of Champs to work out alongside you. These are all misunderstood “bad guys” from folklore and pop culture, each with their own stories to follow. Threkka is designed for several bite-sized sessions per day, so you can take your workouts at your own pace as you improve not only yourself but a whole virtual world. With Sweat. Delightful.
Threkka is available to download from the App Store.
