Angry Birds Go! gets icy new track in Sub Zero episode
The slopes of Rovio's free-to-play kart racer Angry Birds Go! just became a lot more slippery, thanks to the game's new snow-themed Sub Zero episode. Transforming this colourful racer's dusty tracks into an icy slalom, the update brings coats the latest episode in wintery snow. Just in time for spring. Hooray. You'll also get access to eight new carts, which can be purchased and customised to suit your driving style. Plus, if you want to save some coins, you can splash out on a starter pack, which gives you a handful of new carts and some bonus swag to boot. Meanwhile, in the world of physical objects, you can buy more Telepod toys to beam into the game, giving you yet more ways to throw…

All the latest iOS games will be thoroughly vetted right in front of your very eyes so you'll know which ones are worth spending your pocket change on. Rovio’s new RPG Angry Birds Epic has launched on the Canadian, Australian and Kiwi App Stores, so we’ve ventured abroad virtually to snap it up for a bit of live British criticism. Match tiles to activate nuclear breath in upcoming Godzilla game
The tie-in mobile game for the upcoming Godzilla movie has been spotted stomping towards the App Store - and it's not the game you might expect. While developer Rogue Play's interpretation of the Warner Bros. movie does put you in control of the gigantic monster movie icon, it isn't a traditional arcade brawler or smash-'em-up. Instead of hitting punch and kick buttons to level skyscrapers, you'll be matching coloured tiles on the lower half of the screen to trigger Godzilla's devastating attacks. Yup - the new Godzilla game is a match-three puzzler. However, before you roll your eyes so hard you find yourself staring at your own frontal lobes, Godzilla - Smash3 does contain its…
Sega announces mobile racer Crazy Taxi: City Rush coming to iOS this year
Sega is to release a Crazy Taxi: City Rush, a new entry in the Crazy Taxi series created just for mobile devices, later this year. Developed in collaboration with franchise custodian Kenki Kanno and Sonic Dash creator Hardlight Studio, this iOS version of the arcade classic will be all about short, sharp bursts of reckless driving and virtual capitalism. As with the original Crazy Taxi, you'll be picking up fares and ferrying them to their destination as quicky as possible. The faster you complete each journey, the more time you'll have to attempt new runs. Instead of providing traditional driving controls, Crazy Taxi: City Rush lets you switch between three lanes of traffic with a swipe…
Rovio tries its hand at a fantasy RPG with Angry Birds Epic
Remember that teaser trailer we posted last Friday? The one featuring the Red Bird leaping out of a suit of armour? Well, it turns out that the video was Rovio's way of telling us that the next Angry Birds game is going to have more in common with Morrowind than Crush the Castle. The game in question is called Angry Birds Epic, a free-to-play fantasy RPG. There will be wizards. There will be warriors. There will be magic. And there will probably be a tsunami of associated merchandise. Combat takes the form of turn-based battles, just like the kind your daddy played when he was a nipper. Naturally, you'll be fighting an enemy force of sword-wielding piggies, battering them with weapons c…
Scalpel please: Surgeon Simulator out on iPad later tonight
Gory, patient-punishing PC game Surgeon Simulator will check into the App Store tonight. This iOS version of the cult hit aims to recreate the sadistic surgery which made the original game so notorious. You assume the role of Nigel, a doctor who appears to have limited control over his motor functions. It's up to you to perform a series of delicate surgeries on Bob, a patient who will soon be writing a strongly worded letter to his medical insurance provider - if he has any fingers left to write with, that is. As you'd expect, the Surgeon Simulator team has tweaked the controls for touchscreens, meaning you'll be using gestures, taps, and swipes to guide your scalpel and activate the de…
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings onto iPhone and iPad this April
Gameloft will be releasing the official mobile tie in to upcoming Marvel movie The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this April. The new game, in which Spidey faces off against new villains Electro and The Rhino, will play out in an open world Manhattan. Though it appears to be based on the same foundations as the 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man game, Gameloft says it has expanded the city, and improved the visuals. You'll also get to go toe-to-toe with a bunch of new villains, and experiment with some extra combos and special moves. To be honest, we weren't blown away by the last Spider-Man game, which failed to live up to the surprisingly enjoyable Spider-Man: Total Mayhem. We'll have to wait un…
Meets the stars of Telltale's upcoming adventure Tales from the Borderlands
Telltale has revealed the first story details of its upcoming episodic adventure Tales from the Borderlands. Speaking on a panel at interactive conference SXSW, the creators of The Walking Dead: The Game explained that the new game, which is set in Gearbox's Borderlands universe, will focus on two new characters: a cyborg businessman called Rhys, and suave con artist named Fiona. According to Telltale's Kevin Bruner, the story will play out from the perspectives of both characters, leaving the player to decide who - if anyone - is telling the truth. "You never really play what actually happened," explains Bruner. "You're playing a Big Fish version of what happened." Rather than cha…
Feed smoothies to an Andalusian donkey with latest Hay Day update
The latest update to insanely popular farming sim Hay Day adds an important item which no farmer should be without: a smoothie maker. We've no idea how this fruit and yoghurt-blending contraptions work within the context of the game, so we're going to assume you strap it to a cow's udders and then feed it strawberries. Arguably more important than a smoothie maker, however, is the newly added ability to expand your land beyond its current limits. Once you've increased acreage, you can beautify your farm with new paths, fences, and other cosmetic flourishes. Finally, if you get bored of playing with the cows, you can get to know the newest member of Hay Day's menagerie: the Analusian donke…
New trailer for starship shooter Space Noir looks suitably spectacular
N-Fusion interactive has just revealed the first trailer for Space Noir, a visually impressive space shooter due to dock with your iPad this summer. First, lets get the explanatory legwork out of the way. You assume the role of a bounty hunter chappy named Hal Markham. With the assistance of his AI companion Rhonda, you have to zoom around deep space blasting the frak out of any ship which stands between you and your mission objective. You'll have 35 different missions to complete, all of which will be divided up over five alien worlds. These missions have been cooked up by the guys behind first-person shooter Deux Ex: The Fall, so expect lots of cyberchatter, and an air of oppressive hope…
Rovio reveals fantasy-themed teaser for new 'epic' Angry Birds game
Rovio has just released an "Epic" trailer for an as-yet unnamed Angry Birds game. And, by the looks of things, the world-conquering franchise is about to step into the realms of fantasy. The video itself (see below) opens on a handsomely rendered suit of armour. The camera rises up the suit while a bombastic, Skyrim-esque choir and the sound of swords clashing swell in the background. Once the camera reaches the helmet, the pops open to reveal the Red Bird sitting inside. Given the fantasy theme of the teaser, it wouldn't be huge leap to suggest that the Angry Birds are going a bit sword-and-sorcery for their next adventure. In fact, as Angry Birds Nest spotted, if you pause Rovio's New…
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic now supports iOS controllers and cloud saves
The iOS version of BioWare's seminal RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is now compatible with iOS controllers, thanks to the game's latest update. For anyone who had a tough time getting their fingers around the App Store port's touchscreen controls, this update might be just the incentive you need to pick up the beloved RPG classic again. In addition to MFi support, the developer has also added cloud saves, allowing you to start swinging lightsabers on your iPad, and then carry on slaying Sith on your iPhone. The language support options have been bolstered, too, with subtitles now available in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. What's more, if you've yet to pick up KOTOR, it…
Pulsating arcade dodger Wave Wave is all about super triangles, not hexagons
Trippy zig-zagging arcade game Wave Wave is now live on the App Store. Within five seconds of firing up Wave Wave, the similarities between it and cult twitch game Super Hexagon slapped us across the chops. You've got the pulsing vectors, the brutal difficulty, the obstacle-avoiding gameplay, and the retro chiptunes soundtrack. However, while Terry Cavanagh's lo-fi masterpiece was about steering a triangle past enclosing walls, Wave Wave has you guiding a zig-zagging line down a winding path, trying not to touch the sides. Holding your finger to the screen makes the line travel upwards, while releasing your digit causes the line to plummet downwards. However, the game will regularly cha…
Square Enix augments the price of Deux Ex: The Fall in flash sale
Square Enix has significantly dropped the price of first-person sci-fi blaster Deus Ex: The Fall. Previously an iOS exclusive, this mobile tie-in to the Deux Ex franchise exists in the same universe as its gold tinged console cousin. Set in a world where cybernetic augmentations are the norm, the game casts you as an ex SAS mercenary trying to discover the truth about a special-op gone wrong. With production values to match Deux Ex: Human Revolution, this touchscreen version is no slouch in the visual department, firing a highly detailed and immersive world onto your retina display. The tactical choice inherent to the series also survives the jump to mobile. You can clear a missi…
