Earn to Die hits the App Store This Thursday
Maybe you've played the popular flash game Earn to Die, where you drive a car through barricades and zombies till you run out of steam, only to upgrade your car to drive a little further next time. Well if you ever wanted to play it mobile, here's your chance! And here's the trailer... This release will have new content and pricing will be $0.99 for iPhone and $2.99 for iPad.…
Twang the Fox Review
Twang is an acrobatic fox that works for the circus to provide for his cubs. The evil Boscoe Carnivale has kidnapped them and mounting a rescue attempt will take all your tumbling prowess as you ascend ever skywards with all manner of obstacles in your way. Twang the Fox is one of those vertical platformers where you draw a line underneath your character to propel them ever further upwards, but really the word platformer may be misleading. Really this is like a rubber band aided game o…
Watch The Video ReviewApp Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 17th September 2012)
It's another Monday and it's time for another App Wrap Up! The column that shows off some iPhone games that have possible potential based solely on their trailers. If anything looks good and you decide to give one of these games a try, please let us know what you think in the comments. And now, on with the show! Lookout - Blizzard (UNNYHOG Entertainment) Get the snowball to the exit, while dodging fire, rockets, and ultimately, explosions! Full of meaty sound effects, as long as the snowball is responsive enough for some death defying manouvers, this looks like a blast.[App Store Link] Tasty Fish (Dime Studios Pty. Ltd.) Hearing the title makes me think of that line from th…
Oh Hi! Octopi! Review
A great title will only get you so far. I mean I can't be the only one who read Oh hi! Octopi! and thought “this is going to prove to be interesting”. Sadly with baffling controls and stale yet unique mechanics, this game doesn't have a tentacle to stand on, and with eight spare that is certainly a shame. Tapping the screen performs more than one function depending on the situation, and it's here where the trouble starts. When you have your move button double as your attac…
Watch The Video ReviewSteel Yourself for the Release of Bank Rush Next Week
Yes it's another game where you see how far you can get before a grisly fate, but there's something about the art style and sense of humour evident in the trailer that cracked through our hard exterior here at Appspy. Bank Rush is due out in the app store next week.…
Run and Gun Zombies with Apocolypse Max
Due out in the App Store this week, Apocolypse Max: Better dead than undead is a run and gun platformer that visually reminds me a lot of the Metal Slug games (only with more zombies). The music in the trailer is a little much, but you do get a good sense of the platforming action available to you.…
Monkey Slam Review
If you're a giant monkey, obviously you want to eat fruit... but what are you to do when said fruit is hidden inside of blocks and gems that are oddly hovering over your head all along your island paradise? Throw a smaller monkey up to crack open the blocks and harvest the goodness inside of course! Monkey Slam is a version of Breakout, replacing the ball and paddles with monkeys, changing up the crazy power-ups and adding a dash more visual flair. Now Breakout as fun as it can be is k…

QI's top 10 iPhone Games for August 2012
It's that time of the month again. Quality Index has released their Top 10 iPhone games for August, and we are here to relay that information to you, our dear readers. Let's see what made the cut... 1. Blast-A-Way 9.22. Ticket to Ride Europe Pocket 9.23. Mikey Shorts 9.04. Monster Cube 9.05. Keri Racing 8.96. McPixel 8.97. Lost Cities 8.88. Café International 8.89. Horn 8.710. Organ Trail: Director's Cut 8.7 It's interesting to see how their list stands up our own top 3. For instance, our editor's pick Horn hit their number nine spot, but our other two picks didn't make the list. It might show a disconnect between mass appeal and niche gaming as Bastion and The Wor…
Super Hexagon Review
Sometimes the simplest titles can be the hardest to review. When there's depth, it can take a large paragraph or two to explain the mechanics at play, but on the opposite end, you may be clambering for anything to fill space. If it hasn't been given away yet, Super Hexagon by Terry Cavanagh of VVVVVV fame is a very simple game. One shouldn't take that as reason to overlook this title however, for we have a word for when simplicity meets quality, and that word is elegance. At the menu…
Watch The Video ReviewHUEBRIX Review
Upon loading up Huebrix, I was instantly reminded of one of the great underrated puzzle games of the App Store, Pathpix. In both games you have to drag a color over a predetermined number of squares on a grid to fill in the entirety of the level. While in Pathpix, this presented you with a completed image and a clever quote, Huebrix rewards you by having your color trails turn into sentient worm creatures that slither off the screen, escaping your perception. Of course that's not the o…
Watch The Video ReviewThe Last Driver Review
It seems that at the same time the world is beset by zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, and nuclear annihilation (which was obviously triggered to combat the first two horrors). Despite all this, there are still survivors, and some of them have cars. You might be the only one with a working car however. The game is called The Last Driver after all. Fans of flash games will recognize the design here, as it's quite popular. Play the game, die rather quickly, use your coins to upgrade yo…
Watch The Video ReviewDragon Island Blue Review
With dragons thought to be an extinct species, and you just happening to find a dragon egg next to your village, a grand adventure begins. When first loading up Dragon Island Blue, it wasn't set in stone what type of game we were expecting to play, but what unfurled is a mix between an old school JRPG and a mix between Pokemon and Monster Hunter. The game begins with you choosing what element of dragon you've found out of the four elements of water, fire, air, and earth. From here you…
Watch The Video ReviewRolling Rolling Rolling
The Way We Roll is a rolling based puzzle game that's due out on September the 12th. From the trailer we can see it has a pleasing art style, and the puzzle design looks to be solid (even though the concept itself isn't anything we haven't see before). You'll get a chance to find out for yourself later this week when it's released.…

If you have played any of these titles or decide to do so, please let us know what you think in the comments. Well i've just had my second coffee for the day, so let's get to it! Project: Mayhem (OneSmartBunny, LLC) Another tough as nails platformer, this one with very simple visuals. The level design looks great, but as with…
